K2 Avalanche: Skardu Porter Missing, Foreign Climber Lightly Injured
A porter from Skardu is missing following an avalanche that hit a four-member climbing team on 8,611m K2 around 2:30 pm today, as confirmed by the Deputy Commissioner of Shigar, according to Pamir Times.
The avalanche, a mass of ice and snow, broke loose about 500 meters above Camp 1 while the team was preparing to ascend from Base Camp. A foreign climber sustained minor abrasions and was promptly evacuated to Camp 1 for treatment. A Nepali Sherpa and a high-altitude porter were unharmed and reached Advanced Base Camp to alert authorities.

Klara Kolouchova has died on Nanga Parbat. I am really sorry. This is never easy, but it's even harder when you know the person. Again, thinking of the sheer tragedy behind every mountain accident.
Glacier melting intensified in #GilgitBaltistan, mostly residents living downstream areas or near glaciers, i am witnessing the glacier surge and melting glacier water erosion, thousands kanal land submerged, the glacier is inching towards residential area Tokorkot village Nagar
With this latest accomplishment, Sirbaz Khan becomes the first Pakistani in history to complete all 14 of the world’s 8,000-metre peaks —without any oxygen support, a feat achieved by only a handful of elite mountaineers globally.

First of all, I thank Allah Almighty for this huge success, with the prayers of my parents, prayers of the entire nation and especially the tireless effort of my coach Mr. Salman Iqbal Butt and the support of Dr. Ali Sher Bajwa, I have achieved this massive milestone.
Thank you All!
Lastly, This Gold medal is a gift from me to the entire nation on the occasion of Independence Day.
Mountain industry grows fast and demands more resources but someone has to carry them literally on their backs. 2 worlds, luxury leisure time and economies of survival, clashing and increasing the gap. Complex, but looking the other way will not help. https://t.co/jMgFD2ckBS
