An important message to the QSMP community & international Minecraft community regarding Arabic creators and the 'drama' that involved them during June:
For the past month or so, I've been speaking to a lot of Arabic creators, I've had a bad feeling regarding everything that's happened and it’s been constantly nagging at me and I knew the only way to get clarity on it would be to reach out directly to them and talk about it
So, I did, and it made me realize that this is what I should've done from the start, I had originally made bad assumptions about everyone and concluded that they were bad people, I even called some of them bigoted on more than one occasion - I was wrong and I owe them an apology for that. After speaking to them I now have the full picture;
I won't be speaking for anyone specific or making statements for them or apologizing on anyone's behalf, this is for them to do and they know this and those of them who want to make a public statement or apology of their own will do so on their platforms, I'm just sharing my opinion and impression of them after getting their side of things and raising awareness to it as an Arabic creator who has a voice in the international Minecraft community and since I spoke out against them in the past,
I tried my best to speak to everyone, and everyone I spoke to was very respectful, they do not hold any ill will or bad feelings towards any particular groups or cultures, this is the biggest part I was wrong about, they all treated me with respect, and when I discussed topics that I knew they wouldn't agree with me on and was even worried they could get hostile towards me due to them, to my surprise, they remained very calm, level-headed and all heard me out from start to finish, each of those conversations were one on one and lasted hours on end, and there was a common theme across all of them, everyone was upset about what had happened, everyone wished something could be done to eliminate the misunderstandings, but no one knew where to start or how to approach this at all so I'm taking the first step since I have a pretty good understanding of both sides now
The biggest issue that made everything go as terribly as it did was that everyone on the Arabic side blindly believed one account of how the events occurred and didn't verify it, they believed there was hostility and the only appropriate response for it was responding with more hostility. The vast majority of Arabic Creators believed this information and spread it, from there it was very easy for their hostility to also be met by more hostility, from me, from the QSMP community, from the international Minecraft community in general, it all went downhill from there...
It all started due to that one account and everyone neglected researching what had actually happened before spreading information about it, yet, no one that I spoke to that made videos on the topic had any bad intentions, from what they told me, in their eyes, they were doing the right thing and standing up for their friend and warning their audience about an individual they believed to be malicious, that’s not to say everything they said/did in response was correct or justifiable, but it helps with understanding how we got here to begin with
When it all started blowing over that's when some of them realized what had happened and went back to see how everything had actually occurred, but it was already too late to fix. The overwhelming hate wave had already started, the damage was done to the communities that they directed the hate towards, whether intentional or not, and the damage to our reputation as Arabic Creators was also set in stone due to this
It's very difficult to break through the language barrier, cultural differences and lots of other things that are stopping a lot of them from speaking out and reaching the people they accidentally hurt with their actions. I’ve done my best to help and explain things and while their intentions aren't enough to justify what happened, it at least provided a much-needed perspective to me and now I'm sharing it with all of you to make your own conclusions and seek out those apologies that may be put out for you by them
Everyone is always trying to learn and improve, and I have a lot of respect for them due to that, whether I forgive them for what they did or not is for me to decide and stays between me and them, and whether you forgive them or not is for you to decide, if you're an Arabic creator that was involved in this and I didn't get to speak to you and you wanted to talk with me about it, you're welcome to reach out, I'm very easy to get ahold of and I'm still open to conversations about this <3
I've always strived to bring both sides of the community together ever since I became a content creator 8+ years ago, starting as an English creator first then becoming a well-known Arabic creator over the past 3-4 years, it is a dream of mine to see everyone get along well and show mutual respect, and I’m really grateful to be in a position where I can help with that, and use my platforms to bring everyone closer, and I believe talking about this is very important to bring us closer to this goal. What happened left a really bad impression and was very bad representation of what Arabic creators actually are; I’m doing this not because any of them want me to and not because they couldn't do it themselves, but because I believe I’m in a position where I am able to do something good
I hope this message comes across the way I'm intending it to and I hope you do not misunderstand anything I've said in or my intentions with it, I explained everything to the best of my ability and with the highest level of transparency I could put into words based on the conversations I’ve had, I am not speaking on anyone's behalf or trying to make excuses for them, and I've told them that directly. This isn’t about one specific person, and it was fully my decision to do because it's something I want and because I believe I owe this to everyone as I’ve made my own mistakes in the situation too and misrepresented a lot of stuff when I first spoke about it, thank you for reading if you made it this far, it means a lot❤️
