On #WorldEnvironmentDay, NDRF joined the tree plantation drive initiated by Hon’ble Union Home & Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah and kickstarted the plantation of 25,000 saplings at various NDRF locations across the country🌱🌳

The spirit of the day was equally echoed across all deployed RRCs, where NDRF personnel carried out plantation activities with great enthusiasm. Collectively, more than 2,000 saplings were planted, reaffirming our commitment to protecting both people and the environment.

K. Pajanivel, renowned Silambam master and dedicated promoter of India’s ancient martial arts tradition, will be honoured with the Padma Shri for his exceptional contribution to preserving and popularising indigenous martial arts and folk culture.

Hailing from Puducherry, he has devoted over three decades to training thousands of students in Silambam and other traditional martial and folk art forms, while actively promoting Tamil Nadu’s 5,000-year-old weapon-based martial art across India and internationally.

Through free training camps, cultural programmes, and grassroots mentorship, he has played a vital role in keeping India’s rich martial heritage alive for future generations.

Popularly known for transforming Shahabad Markanda in Haryana into one of India’s most productive hockey nurseries, he has dedicated his life to nurturing world-class athletes through disciplined coaching and technical mastery. Under his phenomenal mentorship, the academy has consistently supplied players to national teams, ultimately producing more than 80 international players and 8 Indian team captains.
