Oh boy. Another one….
The U.S.-#Japan summit was marred by jarring #diplomatic friction that went both ways. #Trump’s unbridled "#PearlHarbor" comment was a stark historical slight, yet the Japan Prime Minister’s behavior during her external West Wing "presidential portrait tour" was equally concerning.
By showing scripted deference (almost overacting it seems) to Trump’s photo while then shifting and giggling with cupped hand over mouth at an entirely inappropriate and derogatory "autopen" depiction of his predecessor Joe #Biden, she improperly waded into U.S. domestic politics.
Such behavior risks demeaning her office and compromising the neutrality essential to a stable, long-term alliance. These are not the major issues of the summit, but they are unproductive irritants that should not have taken place.
