The problem with some BTS ARMY or fans in India is that no matter what happens, there is always something to complain about.

“Why this city?”
“Why this location?”
“This place isn’t safe for women.”
“Why are they doing it here?”

And before anyone misunderstands me - this is NOT me defending HYBE. Criticise the company when criticism is deserved. Question their decisions. Hold them accountable.

But whatever is currently happening isn't even a BTS concert or event. It's a K-pop event. If you don't like the location or don't feel comfortable attending, you don't have to go.

What I don't understand is making sweeping statements like “this place isn't safe for women” as though women don't already live, work and travel there, or unnecessarily shading every initiative connected to the company.

Yes, safety concerns are valid. Ask for proper security. Raise genuine concerns with the organisers. Take precautions.

But no place on Earth is 100% safe.

And let's not pretend the problems surrounding BTS events are unique to India.

Influencers chasing content.
Media invading privacy.
Politicians trying to associate themselves with BTS.
Sellers and vendors trying to cash in.
Sasaengs crossing boundaries.
Antis creating problems.
Security issues.
Crowds and overcrowding.
Technical problems.

We have seen versions of all of this in different countries during BTS' tour.

Yet ARMYs there don't automatically turn around and say, “Don't come to our country,” or start shading the company. They find solutions, take precautions and still show up with the same love.

And realistically, if BTS eventually tours India, HYBE will be an important part of making that happen. That doesn't mean we have to blindly support them. It simply means constantly attacking every India-related initiative isn't going to help us either.

If you can't travel to a particular city, that's okay. BTS isn't going to come perform at everyone's doorstep. You travel if you can; if you can't, you watch online.

Not every opportunity has to work for every person.

Let the people who are excited about it be excited. If you don't want to attend, that's your choice. If you don't support the company, that's your choice too.

But please stop turning every opportunity in India into a debate about why it shouldn't happen.

We don't need to love every decision. We just need to stop acting like every India-related opportunity is something we need to fight against.
