APRIL PROGRESS RECAP

Greetings Exonauts!

This update details the progress of contributors and the community in the last 30 days. Exonauts continue to grow in number as testnet comes closer to launching.

🛠️ Technical Updates
Exocore’s developer contributors continued to make progress towards the launch of testnet and have concluded testing on some key features and modules.

a. Contributors have optimized the smart contract framework used by Exocore, preparing a Bootstrap Contract. This contract enables Exocore's L1 to launch in a decentralized way, relying on community validators and community operators.

b. A technical solution for native restaking was finalized and is currently undergoing end-to-end testing.

c. Exocore's L1 will be deployed as an AVS using restaked Proof of Stake (rPoS), allowing the L1 to be secured with LSTs and natively restaked assets. In line with this deployment strategy, contributors made significant progress in finalizing the modules in Exocore's AVS to test the rPoS.

d. The design and development of Exocore’s voting power algorithm was completed, and end-to-end testing will begin soon. The algorithm will balance and optimize validator voting power despite fluctuations in the price of the tokens used to secure the Exocore network.

🧙‍♂️ Community Growth
The number of Exonauts on Discord nearly doubled this month from approximately ~6,000 to ~12,000. There have been over 8,500 quest and quiz submissions.

In addition to Discord, the Exocore community on 𝕏/Twitter also grew, hitting over 13,000 followers. The April @QuestN_com and @Galxe campaigns were highly successful in recruiting more Exonauts and expanding the reach of the Exoverse.

🎙️ X/Twitter Space with OpenDollar
Exocore co-hosted an X/Twitter Space with @open_dollar, @puffer_finance, and @tenderize_me. It provided a clear explanation of LST and LRT rewards and slashing risks.

Co-founder @warpaul also laid out how Exocore mitigates smart contract risk with a more simplified design (lock, unlock, slash). In fact, Exocore’s smart contracts on supported L1 chains are so primitive that they can be deployed on UTXO chains, such as #Bitcoin.

c. Exocore’s Approach to Cross-Chain Messaging ⛓️
Instead of using traditional bridges, Exocore uses one-way state pegs for cross-chain messaging.

User restaking actions on integrated blockchains are communicated through very simple contracts using these one-way state pegs, but all restaking operations are handled within Exocore’s protocol. There is no bridging of assets, and the user always retains custody of their tokens on the tokens' home chain.
