Iran's geographical advantage becomes real after this conflict. I said that China will invest huge amount of money in Iran so it can be fully connected w/ Gulf region. China also incentivized to rebuild relations bw Iran & neighbors for peace in the region.

w/ its new found power, Iran will demand a bigger seat on the table including being key part of the bloc w/ China & Russia as well as China's advanced tech. Given Iran's immense human capital & power, I see no reason why China would hold that back.

Given 10 yrs, Iran will have a full fledging manufacturing sector as well as Air Force & Navy. It won't just rely on missiles & drones.

So that's why this 60 days will be interesting to watch. Are US elites willing to allow this to happen? Once Iran gets integrated as the leading power in the region, there is no turning back.

Two points here. More than two years ago, I wrote that the US was starting to act less like an empire and more like a nation. The dispensing of alliances that no longer work strictly to the national interests of the US is a sign of that. Secondly, this should be concerning for US strategists: it appears that the return of Democrats would lead to a return to Europe, which is a peripheral theatre whose desires (not interests: desires, as the EU and UK elites want the world to be) will drain US of power while strengthening the hand of China. Elbridge Colby, before returning to government with the US Department of Defence in the second Trump Administration, warned of exactly that. But, per Krugman, it seems to be the way things are going. I know that my podcast co-host disagrees, but if Professor Krugman is indicative of Democrat elite thinking, it is not off the table.

This directly contradicts Trump's & Vance's claim that no funds will be transferred to Iran at all.

If Trump denies this is true, there never was a deal. If Trump confirms, the US has fully capitulated to Iran's demands.

Si se confirma la cancelación del FCAS como programa conjunto entre Francia y Alemania, el hecho tendría una lectura bastante más profunda que la simple disputa entre Airbus y Dassault.

Europa lleva años insinuando que podía saltarse la quinta generación y entrar directamente en la sexta: no competir con el F-35 en su propio terreno, sino apostar por un sistema más ambicioso, articulado en torno a avión tripulado, drones colaborativos, nube de combate y superioridad informacional.

El problema es que, si las cosas siguen así, puede terminar sin quinta y sin sexta.

La disputa no parece ser únicamente técnica. Es, sobre todo, industrial y política. Quién diseña, quién fabrica, quién manda, quién conserva la propiedad intelectual, quién protege sus empleos, quién mantiene su soberanía tecnológica. Francia no quiere diluir a Dassault y Alemania no quiere resignar el peso de Airbus. Y ambos tienen razones comprensibles desde la lógica nacional.

Pero ahí está precisamente el punto.

Europa habla de autonomía estratégica, defensa común y soberanía europea. Sin embargo, cuando la cooperación exige ceder poder real, reaparece la clásica gramática de los Estados: industria nacional, prestigio nacional, empleo nacional y mando nacional.

Sesenta años después del inicio del experimento europeo, la defensa vuelve a recordar una evidencia incómoda: Europa no actúa todavía como una potencia continental integrada, sino como una agregación de países que cooperan mientras la cooperación no toque el nervio de la soberanía.

These proposals are increasingly nonsensical. Gripen would not provide Canada any sovereignty from the U.S. as the F414-GE-39E engine is subject to ITAR. Rafale is the only “sovereign” option.

Moreover, Gripen is the least capable Western fighter on the market. It will only become more obsolescent as time goes on. Sustaining two different airframes will undermine the readiness of both.
