Protecting Nairobi starts with individual and collective action.
The Nairobi City County Health, Wellness and Nutrition Sector urges all residents to stay vigilant and observe these critical prevention measures to keep our households and city safe:
1️⃣ Avoid contact with body fluids: Never touch blood, vomit or fluids of anyone showing symptoms. Seek medical care immediately.
2️⃣ Admit patients to treatment units: Keep sick individuals in dedicated medical facilities rather than caring for them at home.
3️⃣ Practice high hygiene standards: Wash hands regularly with soap and water or alcohol based sanitizer and avoid handshakes.
4️⃣ Avoid wild animal contact: Do not handle or consume wild animals (such as bats or monkeys).
5️⃣ Follow safe burial practices: Allow trained medical teams to handle deceased individuals and conduct proper disinfection.
For any Ebola related emergencies or suspected cases, call the Nairobi City County Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) immediately on 1508!

Nairobi City County Governor Sakaja Johnson has commended female heavy machinery operators for their critical role in county risk mitigation and infrastructure preparedness, highlighting operator Ms. Catherine Nduta as a prime example of women breaking barriers in technical fields.
Ms. Nduta is one of eight women among the 14 plant operators stationed at the Nairobi City County Government (NCCG) garage. Operating heavy machinery such as backhoe loaders, she and her colleagues form a core part of the county's multi-agency El Niño readiness strategy.
"Operators like Kate play a crucial role on the frontlines of risk mitigation and infrastructure readiness across the county, keeping our county safe, resilient and ready," Governor Sakaja stated, celebrating both their dedication and the growing representation of women in heavy technical roles.
