@SultanAmeerali This happened to me with FCX calls that expired worthless around the same time. All I needed was 2 more weeks I didn't have as it turned out. Learning the hard way is still learning.
@NeilRingdahl I've bought shares as low as 50 cents in the past and still, in many ways, it has never been cheaper than it is at $9 today when you dig in. Solid choice.
@NeilRingdahl I could see a blend. The MOD should attract strategic/offtake interest alongside senior debt and equity. A modest, well-priced stream/royalty could work if its implied cost is competitive and avoids dilution. Pampa Medina exploration success pre-raise could strengthen valuation.
@minenergybiz Modern copper builds aren’t happening at $16–30k/t. Most projects, including BHP’s own, are closer to $50–60k/t fully built. Any external project delivering copper in that range is competitive with their internal pipeline. There are public company examples.
A rare setup for copper investments:
A permitted project with a path to production this decade.
A world-class Cu-Ag discovery beside it.
One company.
MOD is the mine. Pampa Medina is the prize. Scarcity creates value. $MARI.TO $MC2.AX
@KimGCMoody What a worthwhile approach to help close the wide Canada-US productivity gap. And what did the government give up? Nothing really, just cash flow timing. In my private business I will be buying more capital assets that naturally boost productivity.
@radog_77@ThomasPhilipp6 I think we see higher copper prices for longer. Producers will be making money hand over fist at $7/lb copper. Antofagasta PLC cash flow is $2b usd per quarter. LUN $1b usd per quarter. Interesting times.
@radog_77@ThomasPhilipp6 $18 isn’t enough for something this rare. A real bid needs to be ~$25+. If majors won’t pay it, then fine - build the mine and let them chase later. $MARI.TO
@RealRickRule That's going to be a great outcome, Rick, although I hope you're around a lot longer. The government causes harm constantly, but I wonder who would be harmed by subsidizing nutrition for kids who have no access through family circumstances. The charities I support are efficient.
@RealRickRule Rick, there's a long term cost to a society with children unable to learn because they didn't get proper nutrition. There's an investment return here. My area doesn't do this, so I donate substantial amounts to local volunteer-dominated charities that provide an imporant service.
@Mark_IKN Fair point, Mark. August may be a little hot, but perhaps copper just needs a breather. The structural setup still looks to have plenty of runway to me, but my largest holding still prints money at $5 copper, so I’m reasonably relaxed either way.
@Mark_IKN Mining investment is challenging. Two decades in, I'm still learning hard lessons constantly. When I meet a true expert on the right side of this chart, I'm reminded of the vast wisdom gap I have in front of me.
A new generation of overconfident mining investors has been minted
@k_nole11 I own both of these for good reasons. Never hurts to add a 3rd producing leg like $LUN.TO but the expected returns in the next 12 months are lower imo.
@jmillette77 If this 5% estimate is accurate the junior mining indexes should have done a lot better over the years. I have had my fair share of 10 baggers but still rare in my world except circa 2007
@dmuscat And PM is extremely conservatively valued here using $4 (about $400M USD) because I reckon it has markings of a Tier 1 deposit. Fingers crossed that the step outs continue to hit mineralization.
@dmuscat SOTP: First I would question .7 being financed and shovel ready in ~3 months. But lets use $10.50. Then you have cash >$1.25/shr, PSJ royalty adding >10 cents a year /shr starting 2027 say 50 cents/shr, Pampa Medina very conservatively $4+ is $16+
