I disagree, i think that DR3 just has a different approach to it's story compared to the games, there is some characters that i think should have lived more(im refering to Daisuke and Gozu) but overall i think almost everyone has a role to play in the killing game.

i think sdra2 actually making the simulation kill you was a good move because in sdr2 after learning none of the dead people are actually dead really lightens the weight of their loss and makes you take the deaths not-as-seriously
