As a proud Vamboe and Namibian, my heart is deeply saddened by the events unfolding in Otjinene. I never thought I’d live to see a day where fellow Namibians turn on each other this way — burning stalls, threatening lives, and dividing our people along tribal lines.

We always say "One Namibia, One Nation", but today, that motto is being tested in ways we can’t ignore. The killing of a man is tragic, yes, and justice must take its full course. But what’s even more heartbreaking is how that tragedy is being used to ignite old tribal tensions, especially against us Aawambo, the Ovazemba, and other non-Ovaherero communities.

Let me be clear: violence will never bring justice, only more pain, more hate, and more division. As Namibians, we’ve come too far since independence to let tribalism drag us backwards.

I honestly don’t understand why some of our Ovaherero brothers and sisters harbour so much hate toward Aawambo. Is it history? Politics? Misunderstandings passed down over generations? Whatever it is, it’s time we speak about it honestly, and most importantly, heal from it. Because at the end of the day, we are all just trying to survive, feed our families, and live in peace.

Let us not forget: Hate doesn't solve pain. Dialogue does. Justice does. Understanding does.

To my fellow Aawambo, let us remain calm. Let us not retaliate. Let the law take its course.

To my Ovaherero brothers and sisters, we see your pain. But please, don't let that pain become a weapon against innocent people.

Let us choose peace. Let us rebuild trust. Otjinene is part of Namibia, and Namibia belongs to all of us.
