The #TurnBasedThursdayFest starts today! Check out this schedule of events and take in some creator showcases! https://t.co/UzJVMqlRxH
So, why did we decide to make #CtrlAltDeal turnbased? There were some interesting design pillars that went into the structure of our game. 1/?
@NISHAD_Games This affects everyone. Anyone with aspirations of having a successful game company can no longer rely on Unity. This is number n in a long long line of disappointments from the company.
I've decided to cut ties with Unity. At least until something gets done about "the situation". I'll be leaving the partner program and cancelling any sponsorships I had lined up with them. I won't be attending Unite - which is a horrible, horrible feeling.
This is the first time I've felt disingenuous promoting Unity as the best option for beginners. Getting kids into Game Dev has, and always will, be my number one priority as a creator.
I will say, the Insider Program has been an absolute privilege to be apart of. @kalobrien is an amazing person and everyone I've met through him at Unity are too. I'm certain this was a decision none of them had any say in.
I hope I don't have to stay away forever. I <3 this engine.
Revert this decision Unity.
I've been using #unity3d for over 6 years now and this may push me over the edge to switch engines. Charging per install is ridiculous and the fact that they make no mention of cases like demos, gamepass and piracy is extremely concerning
I don't say this lightly. But I'm really upset at this whole #unity3d fiasco. Just about the time I start making decent games and decide to start on my first full release, they go and do this?
I feel like now I just have to start over learning a new engine...
I bet Steam, Epic, Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft will love having waves of developers pulling their games.
Innersloth has always paid Unity appropriately for licenses and services we use. I'm not a discourse guy, but this is undue and *will* force my hand.
