Went to the Miramar Air Show and finally got my hands on the new(ish) Marine Corps kit.

The official high-cut helmets are nowhere near as sexy as I thought they would be. They are, however, extremely lightweight, and everyone loves them.

The Gen 3 PC is… interesting. It looks like someone found a modern plate carrier and genuinely tried to bring it to the Marines. Then someone said, “What if it’s like three carriers in one, but only one of those configurations was actually usable?” The skeletonized cummerbund was popular, apparently that’s actually issued.

I also got to hold an M27 (the same one from the viral clip on here) with its NT4 silencer, but there were several children in line behind me who wanted to hold the rifle. So my time was cut short.

According to the newly minted Marine Corps Scouts, the M4 is still *thee* hot and preferred commodity. No one claims the M27 is bad, just that it’s simply too heavy, too long and a little bit much.
