A Shameful Tragedy and a Disturbing Glorification, a man who converted from Islam to Sikhism is accused of murdering a helpless UP migrated Hindu girl in Punjab—raising urgent questions about radicalization, accountability, and the misuse of faith.

A young woman, Social media influencer known for provocative content, Kanchan Kumari—also known as Kamal Kaur Bhabi —was brutally murdered in Punjab. The main accused & fugitive of this heinous act, Amritpal Singh Mehron, is a muslim convert to Sikhism, adopted the Nihang Sikh tradition later in life & has been self-styling himself as a “defender of Sikhi.” Let it be clear: no one who commits such cowardly violence can claim to defend any faith, let alone one founded on justice, dignity, and the defense of the oppressed.

What is even more disturbing than the murder itself is the response from certain political and religious quarters. Some individuals and factions are shamelessly glorifying this accused fugitive as a “sacrifice for the Panth.” This is not just misguided—it is a disgrace. It spits on the values our Gurus gave their lives to protect. This isn’t Panthic spirit. This is moral and spiritual collapse.

Are we so lost that we now confuse murder with martyrdom? Is this what we want to pass down to our children—a community that defends violence against defenseless women in the name of faith?

Let this be a wake-up call. We must reclaim our moral compass before it’s too late.
