My moms journey in justice actually started as her training to become an RCMP officer. She said she had to deal with some hard cases and realized she wants to help our people, outside of enforcing a oppressive law.
We shouldn't ask ourselves "y do black movements get more attention than Indigenous movements?" We should ask ourselves "how can we do better and learn from the strength of the black community"
Now is the time to reflect. Now is the time to check your privilege. No one is exempt from perpetuating anti-black racism. Take time to learn about black history and how society got here. Learn past what you already know. Now is the time. Change your views.
Everyone just wanna comment on my posts today lol. As Indigenous people it's so important to hold eachother accountable. Sometimes it's not about us and that's ok. We need to know how to be the allies that we want when we are fighting for the lives of our people.
