Football’s record book is actually hilarious:
All-time top scorer — Cristiano Ronaldo
International top scorer — Cristiano Ronaldo
Most international appearances — Cristiano Ronaldo
Most international hat-tricks — Cristiano Ronaldo
Champions League top scorer — Cristiano Ronaldo
Champions League assist leader — Cristiano Ronaldo
World Cup top scorer — Mbappé
Copa América top scorers — Zizinho & Méndez
International assist leader — Neymar
Then someone closes the record book and tells you… “Messi completed football.”
The anyhowness in this country is on another level.
This morning at City College, Karu Abuja, A police escort in this Prado jeep shot an FRSC officer on the right shoulder.
The officer was trying to stop the vehicle from breaking traffic laws before he was sh@t and the escort fled the scene…
I really hope that police man gets caught and dealt with.
Wishing the FRSC officer quick recovery.
Football history was never written by the fans. It was written by FIFA, and FIFA has always needed a clean, marketable god.
That is why they chose Pelé over Maradona.
Pelé was perfect for FIFA's business plan. He was the smiling, non-political, sponsor-friendly ambassador. He never challenged power. He retired early to be an ambassador for Coca-Cola, for the American project, for FIFA itself. He was the safe black icon they could sell to the world without risk.
Maradona was the opposite. He was poor, angry, anti-establishment. He called out FIFA's corruption, he defended the workers, he talked about the Falklands, he exposed how FIFA treated players. He was too real, too dangerous, too loved by the actual people and not by the boardrooms. So FIFA had to erase him.
Look at the timeline. Maradona wins the 1986 World Cup almost alone — the greatest individual World Cup ever. What does FIFA do? They immediately start drug testing him obsessively. In 1990 they let brutal fouling on him go unpunished in the final. In 1994 they kicked him out of the World Cup in the middle of the tournament on live TV to humiliate him. Then they gave Pelé the title "Footballer of the Century" and later forced a shared award when the public voted overwhelmingly for Maradona, because even they couldn't hide the people's vote. They needed Pelé as the official history, even if the streets knew Diego was greater.
Now watch what is happening today with Messi and Ronaldo. It is the exact same script.
Ronaldo is Maradona in this era. He is self-made, outspoken, not owned by the system. He left Europe, he challenged FIFA's new money projects, he speaks openly. Messi is the new Pelé — quiet, sponsor-safe, Adidas, well-managed, never attacks the institutions. He is perfect to be the face FIFA can control after Infantino needed a new legacy.
That is why Ronaldo can score 50 goals a year, carry his country, reach 900 goals, and still be pushed out of the Ballon d'Or conversation. That is why Messi wins a Ballon d'Or for winning Ligue 1 and a World Cup where he got a penalty in every knockout game. That is why every FIFA The Best campaign, every Club World Cup promo, every Inter Miami push is centered on Messi while Ronaldo, who still has the biggest audience in football history, is treated like he doesn't exist.
FIFA did it before. They turned Pelé into a museum statue and tried to make us forget that Maradona was the people's god. Today they are trying to turn Messi into that untouchable statue and make the next generation forget that Ronaldo was the one who defied them and still conquered everything.
History repeats itself because the same organization is writing it.
Nigerians, How far? Una hear say? Engr. Buba Galadima's: Talk say.
"If dem do free, fair, and transparent election, Peter Obi go win dis election. Na wetin dem find out be dat. Him go win dis election. Dem talk say, 'But even as the President no popular like dat, him fit still manipulate the system.' So dem don give us hint of wetin fit happen.
Na dat one make *The Economist* of London release dat report, you remember? Na part of wetin dem find out for dat secret poll wey we commission be dat, Charles.
You know say we dey do consultation. Na only us stand gbam against the rubbish wey APC dey do. Peter Obi and Kwankwaso don go different places like Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Sokoto, Delta, Benue, Plateau, Kaduna... dey do consultation and town hall meetings.
All the other candidates, either dem dey weak or dem don old, dem no fit even stand campaign. And the company tell us say if we maintain the pressure—sake of say na only us visible and get energy to campaign—say we fit win dat election.
We never even start to dey talk wetin dis our party and ticket stand for, wey we call 'healing ticket'. By the time we start to explain am for English, for Pidgin, for Igbo, for Yoruba, and for Hausa, I wan assure you say Nigerians go buy am, because everybody wan live for peace, for harmony, and for prosperity."
Uhm, no. This is not true. I was in Nigeria recently and things are just as bad (maybe even worse) than we see on social media. Nobody back home is lying. Just help who you can and wish the others well.
Mendy peaked higher than Enyeama.
- 1st choice keeper of Chelsea, a tier 1 club
- FIFA best goalkeeper in the world, 2021
- UEFA Champions League best goalkeeper, 2020/21
Won UCL as first choice goalkeeper, starting in final.
Also won AFCON 2X (Enyeama won 1X).
European journalists picking African 11 will definitely pick him over Enyeama.
The only African goalkeeper of the 21st century that has a solid case against him is Bono. He clears Enyeama at peak. Nigerian sentiments aside.
🚨 José Mourinho on Manchester City verdict: “I’d rather have a bit of a laugh about it…”.
“Being in my 60s, I’ll have to be lucky enough still to be here when the final verdict arrives”.
“Now a ruling will come, then an appeal… I’ll be 80!”, Mourinho told @CorSport.
Kemi Badenoch is Nigerian.
Her children are half Scottish.
Bukayo Saka is Nigerian.
I am very tired of this stupid conversation.
We're not playing this game anymore. You're not claiming my identity and giving it to foreigners.
You opened that door I’m afraid. So many of us tried to tell you. I genuinely hope the worst indignity that your son will suffer is people debating whether or not he’s English. You left a lot of our sons vulnerable to a hell of a lot worse and many of us begged you to stop
Look at how everywhere is quiet.
Three Yoruba men in Oyo State allegedly wiped out an Igbo family of six, including their 5-year-old child. They were reportedly dismembered, and their remains thrown into a stream.
Yet everywhere is quiet.
Where is the outrage? Where is the condemnation? Where is the justice?
We will not let this slide. Never.
Justice for this family. Their lives mattered. Their deaths must not be forgotten.
This is what Palestinians did to an African student in Israel on October 7th 3 years ago 😢
