Really interested in working with Nigerian tech startups/NGOs but I rarely see any buzz about them - Iβd love to hear from you if you know any impactful organisations looking for volunteers!
I'm neither a music journalist nor an Afrobeats specialist. What I do have is the ability to do research and spot patterns.
Patterns like how EVERY SINGLE TIME a new export product emerges from Nigeria, it takes a maximum of 20 years for it to end up fully controlled by the same group of American muzungus.
Oil & Gas - Controlled by them from the start
Agric commodities - Controlled by them from the start
Nollywood - Developed independently and built out a vast global market and ingenious distribution system by itself. Today, it is somehow completely hostage to Netflix, Amazon Prime and YouTube.
Afrobeats - Similar growth story to Nollywood. Now dominated by Lucian Grainge and his new army of male and female 'Afrobeats' artists who look like racially ambiguous K-pop idols.
Outsourcing and Freelancing - Somehow Nigeria doesn't have a single major indigenous BPO provider despite having Africa's deepest a
nd most sought-after talent pool. Market control has ended up in the hands of Andela and Microsoft.
Everytime you people build something, an American muzungu with dollars materialises out of thin air and ends up taking it easy from you either to completely monopolise it and ensure you get zero value from it, or to park it on a shelf somewhere.
If you're cursed with the deadly ability to recognise patterns, you will spot a pattern of predatory behaviour.
But if not, then it's just a coincidence and anyone who notices it is a conspiracy theorist who is jealous of your special relationship with your muzungu dollar blesser.
Samahani kaka.
Itβs almost funny the contrast between the treatment of protesters in Nigeria and rioters in the UK. From the language of officials to the conduct of security forces, and even the treatment of the perpetrators of attacks and destruction.
Sharp-sharp money highlights the risks of deceptive companies promising high returns in a short period. It emphasizes the importance of financial smartness and due diligence.
Don't be a victim β become a wise investor!

For reference, Iβm a full stack cloud developer with 3+ years of experience from dynamic, responsive front ends, to scalable RESTful APIs.
Still working on showcasing some of my finished projects at https://t.co/qcOALxVGua, but check out https://t.co/NbhV8Djmfc for all my work

Started this week with a big update to my portfolio - merged my development branch to master so now https://t.co/qcOALxVGua is fully responsive, functional and gorgeous ππ

Middle of the week and I hit a pretty major milestone! Got my latest portfolio build to a pretty decent place in terms of content - thinking I might merge it and have it up on my domain real soon π₯³

Forgot to post about my progress last week - too busy living life π
That aside, I actually managed to put in well over 12 hours of coding! Almost all of it spent customising my portfolio to be more representative of me
Finally got my anchor links workingβΌβΌ
Check out the development branch while I work on polishing it up and taking out the placeholders - https://t.co/G4slHG99K0
@aniediudo Iβd love to hear more about this role! Iβll send my resume via dm - Iβm a full-stack developer, so Iβm equally curious about both the front and back end roles π
Today was spent poring over documentation to fix an issue Iβm having with hosting my new portfolio on AWS Amplify - while my current version (vanilla Javascript only) has anchor links which work, the new React version wonβt render any other sections besides the landing π
A very interesting challenge, considering the site works perfectly on my local development build, but worth pushing through because Iβve had a lot of fun and am actually quite proud of how this project is growing.
