It was manipulation. She did it on purpose just so that Alya wouldn't as more questions. It's not until she hears Alya speaking through akumatized Marinette does she realize that Alya is still very angry. That's why she asked to talk right when they got the ladybug back

I didn't think I'd have to talk about this, but this is getting so ridiculous that it's starting to piss me off 🤣🤣🤣🤣

These arguments about Alya "not being empathetic" or "not being a good friend" are just reflecting what you are, or what you'd ideally like to have, which is basically an ENABLER

Empathy doesn't always have to be portrayed through hugs or pats on the back. It doesn't mean dehumanizing yourself or setting aside your personal values just to comfort someone else. Empathy isn't JUST about offering comfort or saying nice things. And in this situation, Alya gets to choose whether she wants to empathize or simply cut ties with Marinette. She chooses to stay, but choosing to stay doesn't mean she has to smile at her and pretend everything is okay when Marinette violated Alya's personal values, which she already knew about contextually (the fact that Alya doesn't like lies carries weight because of her own life experiences), which only makes it worse. Alya has every right to be angry like anyone else, and she also has the right to set boundaries telling Marinette that if she wants to remain her best friend, then she can't lie to her again.

And if we're going to talk about Alya's mistakes, that's fine. Bring them to the table. But let's also talk about Marinette's mistakes. At the end of the day, they're both 14-year-old girls. They're far from flawless. Nobody is perfect and none of that should have to dehumanize either of them.
