Tom Lee said Ethereum's funding crisis had "zero chance." Four days later, he helped fund the fix.

Ethereum just got a new core-research lab, and the timing isn't subtle. Ethlabs (@ethlabs_org), a nonprofit founded by five former Ethereum Foundation researchers, launched with Tom Lee's (@fundstrat) Bitmine as an anchor funder alongside Sharplink and co-founder Joe Lubin.

Just four days ago, a former EF contributor warned Ethereum's core development faced a "slow-burning funding crisis," roughly $30 million a year going unmet as old funding sources dry up. Lee fired back on X: "zero chance," and "Funding secured."

Bitmine (@BitMNR) holds about 4.7% of all ethereum:native and earns hundreds of millions in staking rewards a year, giving Lee both the means and the motive to bankroll the network he's betting his balance sheet on.
