We must imagine Sisyphus happy because:
1. His knowledge that his task can never be completed is what sets him free
2. He finds meaning in life by realizing himself through labor, making the stone "his thing"
3. He gets to shake his fists at the gods, having defied them and won
On July 24, 2024, I made my first deposit into Hyperliquid. 800 days later, HYPE hit 96B FDV, Druckenmiller invested in https://t.co/ph8LwaE9sq, and ICE (NYSE) maxxbid..
Clearly, Hyperliquid is now well on its way toward becoming the house of all finance. And crypto, with it, will reorganize the whole plane of human behavior, just like all transformational technologies before it. No binance hack will stop this.
When i joined crypto in 2020, the dream was that decentralized, permissionless markets could facilitate price discovery and democratize access to financial opportunities previously reserved for suits. For years, this remained a dream. We built elaborate financial machinery to trade increasingly elaborate claims on the machinery itself. But this time, it’s different.
As stablecoins grow from 300b to 3t, as global stocks, commodities, bonds, private credit, pre-IPO companies, compute, indices, volatility, and every imaginable financial claim become represented and traded on-chain, markets will become truly composable. Assets cease to exist merely as entries in the proprietary databases of different institutions and become interlocking components of a shared financial architecture.
As such, for the first time since 2021’s NFT boom, many tokens are getting me excited: ETH, ZEC, HYPE, LIT, NEAR, PUMP, ENA, ETHFI, DRV, AERO, VVV, ONDO, CARDS, … as I turn 25, a new generation of traders are coming up, loading fomo on their phones. They do not distinguish so reverently (or at all) between stocks, coins, commodities, and currencies as the institutions that historically intermediated them. They will think: I should be able to use my tokenized Pokémon card collection as collateral, hedge my portfolio with an SPX perp, add exposure to gold, and take a view on some new pre-IPO neolab, all within the same financial ecosystem. I should be able to borrow against my holdings and spend through my etherfi black card, earning cashback while retaining my upside exposure.
To the zoomers and doomers starting to trade now, it will come as a surprise why we needed so many separate brokerage accounts, bank accounts, exchanges, custodians, credit relationships, and intermediaries just to manage what was, economically speaking, one portfolio.
True, no market is free in the purely abstract sense. Every market presupposes rules governing ownership, exchange, enforcement, and access. But the meaningful distinction is not between a world with institutions and one without them, but between institutions that monopolize our possibilities and institutions that expand them.
This is why composability matters philosophically as much as financially. It gives individuals the ability to reorganize their economic relationships without negotiating separately with every institution that claims authority over some part of their lives. We need disintermediation for its own sake: the pure possibility of making financial mediation more open, portable, transparent, and contestable. Freedom is not the absence of structure. It is the capacity to transform the structures through which we act.
Of course, as a trader, I understand that nothing is inevitable. We can still go to zero. And yet, things are becoming increasingly clear.
For a while, we imagined AI would be the great Promethean technology of our time, the instrument that would liberate humanity from the limitations of its own follies once and for all. And perhaps it will. But as the costs of frontier intelligence become increasingly concentrated in enormous compute clusters, proprietary models, and institutions with extraordinary resources, it is worth asking who will ultimately command the fire.
Crypto now seems to offer the complementary promise—the distribution of economic agency, a new architecture for negotiating power, under which the emergence of new conditions of freedom might become possible. Don’t be caught holding Old Reliable when the new King is being made.

I am excited to be an investor in trade(xyz) as they partner with ICE to bring 24/7 perpetual futures on Hyperliquid to the United States. As a market participant, I am looking forward to to using their innovative product to enhance my investment process.
“It’s the only class I took at Harvard where people would call each other out for not having done the reading.”
Harvard students are lining up to take Hum 10:
“Applications (essays required) shot up 40% this fall with 180 incoming freshmen vying for 90 spots.”
“The class is definitely not for padding the GPA. Students read a hefty book a week and write regular essays. There is no pass/fail option. Digital devices are verboten, and attendance is taken in every lecture (pink slips for those who arrive late).”
“In their applications and in interviews, students expressed the urge to be forced to tackle classics they otherwise wouldn’t read, the need to combat frayed attention spans and the desire for an antidote to The Machine. Several mentioned with disdain that people who aren’t in the class wondered why they didn’t ‘just Chat the books,’ i.e., use AI.”
I was wrong.
Agents don't need crypto. It's us humans who do.
I break down what the industry got wrong in my @token2049 talk, Agents + Crypto: What's Real and What's Cope 👇
Bidding $ETH for a bounce
imo if we all know there are 250M of liquidations of eth at 2300, and we didn't push it there...
