The tail of the reward distribution should be done with respect to the min clear item costs. While this is a multi-path expected value optimization problem, there are only a few nonlinear composition functions to account for/backtrack from.

A good heuristic here would help both with adjusting difficulty/reward thresholds and with detecting any form of unfair boss clear.

If your heuristic and consequent adjustments aren't good enough, meaningful resource bounded planning either doesn't happen or is disappointing. Everyone slaps an unchained gun on a corsair (or whatever the weakest link is after the next patch), or quits 😀

Also, if you need to implement one for cheater checks anyway, why not make it good enough for use in adapting reward/difficulty cycles. This could also help fix the lack of incentives when it comes to using/crafting high-end equipment

To HVM2, a new runtime capable of spreading that workload across 1000's of cores, in a thread-safe, low-overhead fashion. As a result, we finally have a true high-level language that runs natively on GPUs!
