I really think Portugal lacks this "Ripple" effect. In SV you see Jack Dorsey walking to the office, it may seem irrelevant, but i think it's a super powerful thing.

The only time I've felt something like this was when I saw Carlos Moreira da Silva (worth ~900m) in Shilling's office.

I didn't even talk with him, but this sense that he was real and somewhat approachable had this weird effect in me.

I think there are equally smart people in SV to Europe and Portugal, but there are so many more that have build amazing companies in SV that the newcomers can look up to and learn from.

I think Portugal would benefit a lot by having the few unicorn founders we have talk more, appear more and share more. And become a figure young people look up to!

I think @diogomonica moving back to Portugal and appearing in some podcast is a great start.

Management consulting is one of the biggest cancers on European talent

For some inexplicable reason it became the default destination for smart graduates. So it vacuums them up, works them 100 hours a week for very little money during the most generative years of their lives, and teaches them remarkably few skills that translate into building anything real. Most of the value created is in decks.

@augustalabs is the antidote
