if a user is in a list things they RT always show up in that list even if you turn off retweets from that user
this makes the official client almost completely unusable
it took way longer than expected, but looks like my twitter API access has finally been revoked
since 2016 my custom client has let me easily scroll 1000s posts a day
i can not do that in the official client
tldr: please use mastodon if you can
to make the official client usable i am going to need to greatly reduce volume of posts i follow, esp of accounts that add more than like 2 posts/day etc
and there will be lots of disabling retweets
lists only get me so far when i can not do group intersections between them 😿
On today's episode of "We Fucking Told You", both Florida and Texas are attempting to criminalize gender affirming healthcare for adults.
In case you have a really hard time seeing the outcome of this, this is a ban on trans people. It's the criminalization of our lives.
when twitter api dies in like 2 days i am going to lose ~300 people i am currently following who are not also on mastodon
as rough guess it's mostly non tech people
i am not mentally prepared for how much this is going to suck
@Psyfira it goes something like:
- pick an instance, make an account (if needed moving to another instance later is easy, a built in feature)
- use https://t.co/2F5WLA7CTl to make a CSV
- import CSV into mastodon
@shanselman being yourself often requires defying expectations, undoing engrained habits, searching for a path to an end goal you don't know how to reach...
just being the default same as everyone really would be so much less effort.

Listening to tories talk about defending the ‘rights of woman and children’.
This is the party that wants to:
- get rid of the Human Rights Act
- brought in the Rape Clause
- wants to take us out of the ECHR
- attacked workers rights literally last night

This is a full-frontal attack on our democratically elected Scottish Parliament and it's ability to make it's own decisions on devolved matters. @scotgov will defend the legislation & stand up for Scotland’s Parliament. If this Westminster veto succeeds, it will be first of many
