Every guy on a site says the same thing about robots. Fine on a conveyor. Useless the second something goes wrong.

That was always the real defense. Not skill. Surprise. A machine runs a plan, and a job site is 8 hours of small things not going to plan.

Now run the math on this clip.

A ball thrown from 3 meters is in the air for roughly 300 to 400 milliseconds. Inside that window the machine has to see it, predict where it will be, put a hand there, and close that hand soft enough that the ball does not bounce straight back out.

Human visual reaction time is about 250 milliseconds. You do not catch a ball by reacting. You catch it by predicting, which is why it takes a child years to learn.

The robot just did it in the same window, with a grip that has to be firm enough to hold and gentle enough not to punch the ball away. That is not a dexterity demo. That is a closed loop running at the speed of a nervous system.

Here is why this beats any factory footage you have seen.

Picking a part off a line proves nothing. The part is in the same spot every time. Catching proves the machine can deal with something that was never where it was supposed to be. A slab that slips. A board that kicks back. A load that swings on the sling.

The trades were never protected by difficulty. They were protected by chaos.

The honest part: this is 1 clip from Tesla's own channel. Controlled throw, best take, no success rate published, and hands are still the hardest unsolved problem in the industry. Nobody is tiling a bathroom with this next year.

But the argument that a machine cannot handle surprise is finished. What is left is price, and price only moves in 1 direction.

It does not have to be as good as your best guy. It has to be quick enough to catch what he drops.
