In his latest article on his personal blog, @VitalikButerin introduced the concept of "multidimensional gas pricing" - let me explain to you ! 🥸

Currently, $ETH employs a simplified approach to resource pricing by combining all resources into a single gas size, but Buterin noted that this method would result in significant efficiency losses.

So that's why he introduced EIP-4844 :

This proposal aims to introduce multidimensional gas pricing on the Ethereum network. It seeks to replace the current approach of combining all resources into a single gas size by introducing separate tariffs for different resources.

Buterin acknowledged that despite the potential benefits of implementing multidimensional gas pricing, its rollout presents various complexities and challenges. He emphasized the importance of striking a nuanced balance between scalability gains and protocol economics.

Although he recognized the possibility of more elegant solutions in the future, he noted that improvement proposals require further research and refinement.
