“There is not in Europe any such thing as a pure race. Russians have an admixture of Tartar blood, Germans are largely Slavonic, France is a mixture of Celts, Germans, and people of Mediterranean race, Italy the same with the addition of the descendants of slaves from every corner of the Empire imported by the Romans. The English are perhaps the most mixed of all. There is no evidence that there is any advantage in belonging to a pure race. The purest races now in existence are the Pygmies, the Hottentots, and the Australian aborigines; the Tasmanians, thanks to the British, who were probably even purer are now extinct. There is a special absurdity in applying racial theories to the various populations of Europe.”

Peter Thiel on why blaming luck is for lazy people:
"Whenever we've thought that it's a matter of luck, psychologically, I can say this has often been a very bad sign. You say, well, we don't know if this is going to work. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't. So let's just invest a slightly smaller amount to adjust for our lack of knowledge. As a pattern, those are investments that have generally gone very badly wrong. When you think you're multiplying a small probability by a big payoff, you psych yourself into playing the lottery, and you psych yourself into losing because you somehow are being sloppy and not doing that much work.
The internal account of luck is that you talk about luck when you're too lazy to think for yourself. You start talking about luck when you're too lazy to think through the various contingencies and try to make sense of what happens. It's sort of a moral failing and not a metaphysical statement about reality."
Lots of Security incidents today, here's some practical tips for those who just wanna protect yourself:
1) UPDATE EVERYTHING - main targets are:
a) Browsers - Chrome, Safari, Firefox
b) OS: : Settings -> General -> software update; Linux: sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade; Windows: I think there's a button. Do this for any remote home servers & Openclaw/hermes boxes
c) Phones: Update it all
d) Desktop apps (Slack, Cursor, Discord, etc)
2) Limit web browsing this week: Stay within walled gardens (twitter, youtube, etc); don't click random links this week. Just wait until the patches go through. Do step 1 again after a week.
3) Avoid untrusted Wifi networks until your devices are updated
4) Stay vigilant about phishing emails offering "certificate fixes" or fraud updates
5) Have an iPhone 11-16? TURN BLUETOOTH OFF for the time being until apple patches come through.
6) Code/Dev: UPDATE ALL YOUR REPOS - @charliermarsh has already updated uv 0.13.4 which reacts to the eMudra incident for uv (Python), Typesript according to Claude has equivelant. Tell your agents to go and update all your active repos to update package manager across uv, npm, bun, cargo, etc etc
What advice did I miss?

California is actually from Spanish literature but is derived from Khalifa in Arabic, meaning “caliph” or leader. Note the closeness to Caliphate lol

Texas is Tejas, named by Mexicans from the Cado Native American word taysha
El Paso is “the pass” referring to the mountain pass along the Rio Grande (big river)
I could go on…
Trump will stay busy renaming and making the U.S. basic and boring like the food without ethnic spice. Pretty fitting for this administration. 🤡

In tests, a 9B model got AI running on 8 of 9 hardware types.
