@tubergen@Jason On 2 would add Perps. Perps evolved from an instrument to hedge miner risk to a more accessible form of option. In general, a broad summary of DeFi might be "increasing access of institutional financial products to retail and prosumers. Perps are basically internet-native Swaps.
*App Layer:* All of these learnings are making their way up the stack, as dapp protocols like @AAVE and @ENS are showing with their organizational evolutions underway. Thanks!
Doing a minor braindump on L1 learnings for no other reason than to consolidate and get feedback (no price targets, no specific investment advice - just frameworks). Some quick points on:
*Complexity:* I am seeing a trend where complexity which could exist at L1 is being shifted to the L2/middleware/application layer. It is not always possible to to do so, especially if the L1 is "monolithic" and requires additional security and economic model at the base layer
