I’ve talked to many developers about this topic recently.
A lot of people want to contribute to open source, but the biggest issue is always "money."
They have families to support and bills to pay, but in reality, less than 0.1% of open source developers actually receive sponsorships.
Even with my visibility, the total sponsorships I’ve received over the past few months is just $250. (I am deeply grateful to those who supported me.)
Other than that, it’s mostly just DGX rentals for research, and I’m covering the rest of my living expenses with my X Creator payouts.
Other amazing open source developers are having an even harder time than this.
Historically, the open source community has avoided talking about "money," but that exact culture has been holding the ecosystem back from growing.
I don’t like bringing up sensitive topics either, but I realized someone has to say it so we can solve this fundamental problem.
While thinking about this, I’ve been watching @bankrbot for about a month.
I realized that if its fee distribution system is used "correctly," it could actually enable funding for these open source developers.
Of course, I know many people have negative views on crypto. But for open source to win, we absolutely need a way to solve this core issue.
Open source will overcome these challenges and win in the end.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this.

cant wait to try out qwen with evo
i wish there was a standard autoresearch bench that was
1/ solvable
2/ not compute intensive in terms of needing gpu and stuff
3/ yet hard enough that the difference of base model intelligence x harness actually pops off
you could then just go wild trying out different techniques on how to do hillimb more efficiently
anyone w any ideas ?
@defidude@bankrbot@Pumpfun@base@bankrbot is very reliable and helps real entrepreneurs solve project economics problems. Community is not annoying, but rather actively promotes your project. Finally, I really like this avatar.
