The Definition Problem
Corporate AGI definitions are self-serving, anchoring to human cognition or economic output.

Rigorous academic definitions focus on:Goal achievement across varied environments (Legg & Hutter)Adaptation under insufficient knowledge and resources (Wang)Efficiency of acquiring new skills, not accumulated knowledge (Chollet)The Narrow AI Illusion
Superhuman performance in closed domains (chess engines, calculators, translators) is not intelligence.

AGI is definitively not the sum of narrow competencies, regardless of how impressive each individual capability may be.

Benchmark Failures
Static, closed-world tests are easily inflated via parallel attempts or training data leakage. True generalization requires open-world interactive evaluation (e.g., ARC-AGI), where systems must discover rules, infer goals, and adapt on the fly without prior instructions. It evaluates how efficiently a system learns something truly new, not what it already knows.

The Architecture of AGI
Generality is a collective phenomenon. It will not emerge from a single monolithic model crossing an invisible threshold. It requires a viable "network of networks" (echoing Minsky's society of mind): specialized agents, persistent memory, and self-correcting modules coordinating at scale. Intelligence is an architecture, not a score.
