- Guns are a mandatory prerequisite for the government to respect your rights.
- Guns immediately invalidate your rights and the government can execute you on the spot if you have one.
Let's be honest, most of America didn't stay up for the @nuggets game last night. Hell, I barely made it. But when they wake-up, they'll see the Nikola Jokic box score and think, "Oh he missed the triple double." But what they don't notice (few do) is the ridiculous efficiency with which he plays. He attempted 19 shots. He made 16 of those 19. Compare that to SGA, who also took 19 shots last night and made nine of them. SGA is an amazing player in his own right but NOBODY plays with the purity and efficiency of Nikola Jokic. Nobody. Hell, SGA enjoyed 9 free throw attempts. Jokic got a whopping THREE. The other night Cade Cunningham scored 45 points on 46 shots. FORTY SIX! Jokic wouldn't dare. He doesn't need to. His numbers are like the expensive fuel at the pump -- clean and pure. He's not a product of stat nerds, as some would contend. He's quite simply the MOST EFFICIENT OFFENSIVE PLAYER TO WALK THE FACE OF THE EARTH. Not since Wilt? He is Wilt. Respect it. Cherish it. Honor it.
Rest in peace Daniel Naroditsky. You had always been one of us. A true colleague and a friend. You have an upbeat, smart, and charming personality. You had a wonderful and great life awaiting you, which was cut abruptly short. I remember first meeting you in Quebec back in 2012 and we played a game. Later you visited St. Louis in 2014 and we played lots of King's Indian blitz games and some basketball. Then we worked online on openings, specifically the Ruy Lopez with White, which helped me win some important games including a critical one over Gareev in the Millionaire Chess 2014. We must have played over a thousand blitz games over the years. You are a good man. Your talent and brilliance in chess and in life was clear to me since the beginning. I've always enjoyed watching your videos and your commentary and will miss them. The chess world has suffered a big loss today. Danya we love you, and we will miss you. We are heartbroken and offer our condolences to your family.
I’m not usually affected by the deaths of people I don’t know personally, but this one hurts.
Chess Grandmaster Daniel Naroditsky has passed away, aged 29.
I never met him, but I’ve spent hundreds (maybe thousands) of hours watching his videos. I got back into chess during the Covid lockdowns, and I wouldn’t have fallen in love with the game without his generous, witty, and instructive lessons.
A history graduate from Stanford, Naroditsky was the most articulate and lucid commentator and teacher in chess. He was rare: a Twitch streamer and YouTube creator without a hint of ego. Everything he did was in the service of the game he loved.
He knew how to instruct weaker players like me. Commonly in his videos he’d say “you might be tempted to play…” followed by the exact terrible move I would have played, and then he’d explain why it was so bad.
I hear his voice and his idioms in my head when I play: is the opponent’s threat genuine or only a “paper tiger”? Can you set up a defence so that the opponent’s attack is “biting on granite”? Can you see a follow-up to your “sexy move” or have you succumbed to “onemove-itis?”
I’ll never be able to play as well as he did, but his videos always gave the impression that, with enough patience and effort, one day I might be able to.
It might be strange to have a teacher younger than you, but it’s even stranger to find out that he’s gone.
Remember Philip Larkin’s lines at the end of his poem “The Mower”:
"we should be careful
Of each other, we should be kind
While there is still time."
Memory eternal

holy shit
immutable smart contracts just beat the treasury department in court
"we hold that Tornado Cash's immutable smart contracts (the lines of privacy-enabling software code) are not the "property" of a foreign national or entity, meaning (1) they cannot be blocked under IEEPA, and (2) OFAC overstepped its congressionally defined authority"
incredible the degree to which crypto is killing it in federal courts
