Why am I even talking about @anoma?
Because it’s one of the few projects that actually made me pause, dig deeper, and realize, this might be where the space is heading.

I’ve been following Anoma closely since December 2024, and honestly, it’s one of the most interesting projects I’ve come across in this space.

Here’s a quick breakdown of what makes @anoma so unique 🔻

Anoma isn’t just another blockchain, it’s a whole new way of thinking about decentralized systems. Think of it as a Web3 operating system, where the focus shifts from commands to intentions ,what users actually want to achieve.

Instead of coding every little step, developers can now build apps that understand user outcomes. It’s simpler, smarter, and a lot more aligned with how we think and interact.

They’ve raised $60.25M in total, with $57.75M backed by top VCs like Polychain Capital, Coinbase Ventures and more. The community ICO held on Echo in January 2025 also pulled in another $2.5M. Momentum is definitely building.

Here’s why Anoma really stands out to me:

➤ Intents over Instructions : Instead of users struggling with complex transaction steps, Anoma lets you just express what you want to do, and the network figures out how to make it happen. It's intuitive and user-first.

The Untold Story of Aztec Network 📜

Ever wonder why some folks see beyond the obvious? I've been obsessed with this question lately, specifically about @Zac_Aztec
While everyone was building cookiecutter L2s for scaling, he saw something different: privacy potential.

So I went down a rabbit hole researching this, and holy shit, what I found blew my mind. 👇

➡️The Physicist Turned Crypto Pioneer

Zac Williams isn't your typical crypto founder. Dude was a legitimate particle physicist in the UK with a PhD in Experimental Neutrino Physics. Like, seriously brilliant, the British government literally paid him to think about physics problems. That's next-level smart.

He spent time grinding away at Japan's Kamioka Observatory studying neutrinos (tiny subatomic particles that barely interact with matter, kind of like how true privacy should work, when you think about it).

Blockchain wasn't even on his radar early on. He just wanted to make a real impact solving actual problems, which pulled him toward software development.

➡️The Chance Meeting That Changed Everything

This is where it gets interesting. Back in 2017, Zac had this friend Thomas Raymond Leon who worked at some corporate debt firm in London.

Thomas kept hitting walls with trust issues in his industry. He saw blockchain as the potential solution but didn't have the technical chops to build anything. Classic "I have an idea" guy who needed someone who could actually code.

He pitched Zac, who by then had become a solid software engineer. Zac thought "why not?" and jumped in.

➡️The Privacy Epiphany

Here's the turning point most people miss: during early development, they realized something crucial. If financial institutions were going to put sensitive data on-chain, they'd need serious privacy protections.

This wasn't just a "nice to have" feature, it was an absolute deal-breaker.

That realization sent Zac deep into zero-knowledge proofs and privacy tech. Man literally taught himself cryptography from scratch to solve this problem. Talk about dedication!

Not many people know this (seriously, only the OGs), but Aztec wasn't always Aztec. It started as "Credit Mint." Wild how brands evolve, right?

What impresses me most is the staying power. Eight fucking years working toward the same vision of privacy on Ethereum. In crypto, that's like several lifetimes of commitment while everything else changed around them.

I'm genuinely stoked seeing Aztec finally getting close to realizing what Zac and the team set out to build all those years ago. This isn't just another L2, it's privacy infrastructure nearly a decade in the making.
