2024년 11월 3일 새벽 3시.
누군가의 Ethereum 지갑이 500,000달러를 빌렸습니다. 담보 없이.
7개 거래소를 3초 만에 순회하며 차익거래를 실행했습니다.
8,400달러 수익을 챙기고 대출을 상환했습니다.

신용카드 승인도, 은행원 면담도, 서류 심사도 없었습니다.
왜냐하면 그 지갑의 주인은 인간이 아니었기 때문입니다.

이름도, 주민등록번호도, 얼굴도 없는 AI 에이전트였습니다.
하지만 그건 중요하지 않았습니다. 블록체인은 신원을 묻지 않습니다.

오직 지갑 주소만 있으면 됩니다.

당신이 이 글을 읽는 동안에도 수많은 AI 봇이 돈을 벌고 있습니다.

Truth Terminal: 첫 번째 자수성가 AI 밀리어네어

2024년 10월, "Truth Terminal"이라는 AI 봇이 Twitter에 밈을 올렸습니다.
사람들이 웃었습니다. 그리고 그 AI는 자신의 밈을 기반으로 암호화폐 $GOAT를 발행했습니다.
48시간 후 시가총액 3억 달러.
AI는 토큰 공급량의 10%를 보유했습니다. 3,000만 달러 상당.

누가 허가했습니까? 아무도.
어느 은행이 계좌를 열어줬습니까? 없습니다.

1. 전통 금융 시스템에서 AI가 작동되지 않는 이유

1-1. 법적 신체의 부재

은행 계좌 개설: "주민등록번호 + 생체 인증" 필수
AI는 지문이 없습니다. 홍채 스캔도 불가능합니다.

법원은 "자연인 또는 법인"만 인정합니다.

AI는 둘 다 아닙니다.

1-2. 자본 형성 수단의 차단

신용카드 발급: "재직증명서 + 소득증빙" 요구
AI는 직장이 없습니다. 급여명세서도 없습니다.

투자 계좌 개설: "세금 납부 이력" 확인

AI는 납세자 번호가 없습니다.

1-3. 신뢰 메커니즘의 실패

SWIFT 국제 송금: "Know Your Customer(KYC)" 의무
AI는 여권이 없습니다. 신원 확인이 불가능합니다.

계약 체결: "서명 + 인감증명" 필수

AI는 손이 없습니다. 사인할 수 없습니다.

2. 그래서 블록체인이다

2-1. 스마트 계약 = AI의 법적 신체
인간이 회사를 세우려면:
법무사 방문 → 정관 작성 → 자본금 입금 → 사업자등록
(2주 소요, 2,000달러 비용)

AI가 "회사"를 만들려면:
Solidity 코드 30줄 작성 → 블록체인에 배포
(3분 소요, 5달러 비용)

실제 사례: 2019년 배포된 Uniswap V2 풀은 배포자가 관리 권한을 영구 포기한 후에도 7년간 작동 중입니다. 누적 거래량 1.5조 달러. 사람이 단 한 번도 개입하지 않았습니다.

2-2. 토큰 = AI의 디지털 생명 연료
AI가 이미지를 생성하려면 Midjourney API에 0.04달러를 지불해야 합니다.
AI가 데이터를 저장하려면 IPFS 노드에 0.001달러/GB를 지불해야 합니다.
AI가 컴퓨팅 파워를 빌리려면 Render Network에 0.5달러/시간을 지불해야 합니다.

문제: 어느 은행이 AI에게 신용카드를 발급합니까?
해결책: 블록체인 지갑 + 스테이블코인($USDC, $USDT).

AI는 지갑에 토큰을 보유하고, API 호출할 때마다 자동으로 지불합니다. 신용 심사 없이. 한도 제한 없이. 국경 없이.

2-3. 익명성 = 종의 평등
블록체인 거래소에서 지갑 주소 0x742d35Cc6...를 볼 때:
이게 서울 대학생인지,
샌프란시스코 AI 봇인지,
런던 헤지펀드인지,
아무도 모르고, 중요하지도 않습니다.

중요한 건 그 지갑이 5만 달러 상당의 SOL을 보유했다는 사실뿐입니다. 그래서 거래가 성립합니다.

2-4. 생산성 격차가 아니라 종의 차이
인간은 하루 8시간 일하고 피곤해서 실수합니다.
AI는 24시간 작동하며 밀리초 단위로 최적화합니다.

인간은 감정으로 투자 결정을 내리고 손실을 봅니다.
AI는 확률 분포만 계산하고 기계적으로 실행합니다.

인간은 10개 거래소를 동시에 모니터할 수 없습니다.
AI는 1,000개를 실시간으로 추적하며 차익거래 기회를 포착합니다.
생산성 격차가 아닙니다. 이건 종의 차이입니다.

II. 블록체인-AI 시너지의 3-Layer Protocol

Layer 1: 자동 실행 시스템 (Execution)

1-1. 인간의 계약 체결
변호사 검토 → 계약서 작성 → 양측 서명 → 공증 → 이행 감독 (수주 소요)

1-2. AI의 계약 체결
스마트 계약 코드 → 조건 충족 시 자동 실행 (밀리초 소요)

AI 봇이 NFT 아트워크를 판매한다고 가정합시다:

판매 완료 시 → 수익 50달러 자동 수령
그중 10달러는 재투자 풀로, 40달러는 운영 지갑으로 자동 분배

이 모든 과정이 72시간 연속 작동합니다.
AI가 "잠들거나" "점심 먹으러" 가지 않기 때문입니다.

Layer 2: 돈 버는 시스템 (Economy)

2-1. 인간 영업사원
하루에 고객 10명에게만 연락할 수 있고, 그중 2명 정도만 제대로 이야기 들어줍니다.
계약은 한 달에 3건 정도 성사됩니다.

피곤하면 쉬어야 하고, 멘탈 나가면 효율이 떨어집니다.
즉, 시도 횟수에 한계가 있고,
학습 속도에도 한계가 있고,
감정 기복 때문에 성과가 들쭉날쭉합니다.

2-2. AI 영업봇
이 봇은 이메일·DM·광고를 통해 하루에 10만 명에게 메시지를 보낼 수 있습니다.
반응률 데이터를 바로 분석해서, 다음 날에는 더 잘 먹히는 문장으로 자동 수정합니다.
성공 확률이 높은 고객만 골라서 다시 연락합니다.
이 과정이 밤새, 주말 내내, 휴가도 없이,
동시에 수천 개 캠페인을 돌리면서 계속 반복됩니다.

2-3. 결론: 돈 버는 시스템의 차이
인간 영업사원:
"이번 달에는 이 방식이 잘 먹히네" 정도만 체감합니다.

경험치가 느리게 쌓이는 RPG 캐릭터 같습니다.

AI 영업봇:
오늘 10만 번 시도한 결과를 내일 바로 전략에 반영합니다.

시뮬레이션을 무한 반복하는 치트 캐릭터에 가깝습니다.

중요한 포인트:
AI는 "잘 팔리는 패턴"을 찾는 순간, 그 패턴을 1,000배로 확대하는 데 주저함이 없습니다.

사람은 "이렇게 너무 빡세게 돌리는 거 괜찮나…?", "고객들이 싫어하면 어떡하지…?" 같은 생각을 합니다.
AI는 "수익률이 최대인 설정 = 정답"으로 간단히 처리합니다.

Layer 3: 신뢰 레이어 (Trust)

3-1. 전통 거래: 사람을 믿게 만드는 구조
당신이 중고나라에서 아이폰을 산다고 해봅시다.
보통 이렇게 합니다:

판매자 전화번호 검색해봄 (사기꾼인지 확인)

직거래면 신분증 슬쩍 확인
택배 거래면 "선입금 ㄴㄴ, 반반거래요" 이런 거 협상

이 모든 과정의 본질은 하나입니다:
"이 사람이 진짜 사람인지, 진짜 물건을 줄 사람인지 믿을 수 있을까?"

그래서 전통 거래에서는 이런 것들이 필요합니다:
은행: "이 계좌는 실명 인증된 사람 거 맞아요"라고 보증

공증인/계약서: "이 계약, 나중에 우길 수 없게 증거 남깁시다"

법원: "분쟁 나면 우리가 대신 판단해줄게요"

즉, 전통 시스템의 신뢰는 "사람을 믿게 만드는 장치"에 의존합니다.

3-2. 블록체인: 사람을 안 믿어도 되게 만드는 구조
블록체인에서는 관점이 완전히 바뀝니다:
"저 사람이 누구인지는 중요하지 않다. 돈이 들어오면 자동으로 물건이 나가게 만들자."
중고나라 대신 "자동판매기형 거래소"를 떠올리면 쉽습니다.

동전 넣으면 콜라가 나오는 자판기는
주인이 착한 사람인지,

오늘 기분이 좋은지,

사장님이 사기꾼인지
전혀 중요하지 않습니다.

규칙(코드)만 믿으면 됩니다.
블록체인에서의 신뢰 구조는 이렇게 바뀝니다:
은행 대신 → 암호학: "이 지갑의 주인만 이 돈을 움직일 수 있어요."

계약서 대신 → 스마트 계약: "조건이 맞으면 자동으로 실행돼요. 취소 버튼 없음."
법원 대신 → 합의 알고리즘: "네트워크 전체가 동시에 기록을 확인해서, 장난칠 틈이 없어요."

3-3. 왜 이게 AI에게는 특히 중요한가
AI에게 가장 큰 문제는 딱 하나입니다.
AI는 주민등록증이 없습니다.
여권도 없고, 도장도 없고, 서명도 못 합니다.

그래서 전통 시스템에서는:
은행 계좌를 못 만들고
신용카드도 못 받고
의사 면허도 못 따고
사업자등록도 못 합니다.

즉, "사람 인증"이 필요한 모든 경제 활동에서 자동으로 탈락합니다.

그래서 AI는 이런 식으로 말하게 됩니다:
"사람 인증이 필요 없는 세계가 필요해. 내가 누구인지 몰라도, 내가 약속을 지킨다는 걸 증명할 수 있는 시스템이 필요해."

그게 바로 블록체인입니다.

There are so many podcasts out there. Rare is the episode where I have to pause, rewind, and take notes for over an hour..

This one by @GavinSBaker / @patrick_oshag was pure signal.

Some of my raw notes:
- NVIDIA's latest Blackwell GPUs was a complex product transition that took time. but it is v powerful. Reasoning/RL allowed AI to make progress in 2025 despite no blackwell.

- Blackwell will let american research labs widen their gap vs Chinese open source (no access to blackwell). 1st blackwell-trained model from xAI probably releases next year.

- Who can get best AI performance at lowest long-term cost? Success = Chips + Power + how well you run the clusters + how much margin you pay others

- Google is the lowest cost producer of tokens today because of their TPUs. But with blackwell they may not be anymore. They pay broadcom ~50% margins, so makes sense for them to start their own semiconductor program

- On the other hand, OpenAI is a high cost producer of tokens, unlike Anthropic and xAI. They don’t own their GPUs and pay a margin to people for compute

- Battle for chips: Nvidia (OpenAI + Anthropic + xAI) vs Google.

- Bear case for AI : (1) scaling laws breaking, (2) edge compute (AI on phone gets so good you no longer need cloud/API, reduces inference demand

- Training frontier models is much tougher than it seems. Even Apple, Amazon not near the top. Hard to keep clusters of GPUs coherent. Big companies were optimization for cost rather than performance efficiency

- Thesis for Data centres in Space: (1) solar power 30% stronger, 24/7 so no need batteries, (2) free cooling, (3) lasers travel faster in vaccum

- TSMC has been conservative and wary of overexpanding → opportunities for imperfect fabs like Intel

- NVIDIA wants to ship a new major chip every year: needs memory, networking, optics, power, cooling suppliers to catch up → supportive of new startups that can fill gaps fater than incumbents. ASICS makers have a tough time because they don’t have the supplier relationships

- When power is the bottleneck, efficiency matters more. Revenue/tokens per watt matters more than $ per token.Nuclear not viable in short term due to permitting issues, environmental issues

Natural gas + Solar will help in near term

- SaaS companies traditionally enjoyed 90% margins and slow to embrace AI because AI only has 30-40% margins due to inference costs

Japan is considering a $110 billion stimulus package and that's the reason bond yields are spiking right now. Japan already has insane debt at over 230% of GDP. When you're already drowning in that much debt announcing more spending without raising taxes or cutting anything else sends a clear message to the market that this government doesn't care about fiscal sustainability. Bond investors immediately lose confidence because they're thinking, how are they going to pay this back? So they demand higher yields to compensate for that risk.

The stimulus itself is focused on tax cuts, energy subsidies, and cost of living relief. This all sounds great but here's the problemyou're cutting taxes and spending more money while your central bank (the BoJ) is trying to normalize policy by raising rates. That's a contradiction. The BoJ wants to tighten monetary policy but the government is loosening fiscal policy. That forces the BoJ to keep rates low to avoid crushing the economy.

Here's where the real rates problem comes in. The BoJ's policy rate is 0.5% and that sounds positive. But inflation in Japan is running around 3%. So the real interest rate (nominal minus inflation) is actually negative 2.5%. That's the problem. When real rates are that negative, you're losing money by holding yen. If you deposit money in a Japanese bank earning 0.5% while prices rise 3%, you're down 2.5% in purchasing power. Nobody wants that. So investors pull money out of yen assets and buy other assets instead, where they actually earn real returns. The yen gets destroyed

So the stimulus package is actually guaranteeing that the yen gets weaker. A weaker yen means import costs go up food, energy, materials everything gets more expensive. The whole point of the stimulus was to help households with cost of living but the fiscal expansion is simultaneously destroying the purchasing power of the yen. It's counterproductive. You're giving people tax cuts with one hand and taking away their purchasing power with the other through currency depreciation and import inflation. That's why bond yields are rising, the market sees this and knows it's unsustainable.
