Thus only a rich L2 ecosystem can help us solve this problem.

Therefore a comparison to Google is in my perspective also not feasible. You're also not hand-crafting IP packages by using the command line.

As the gas limit per block is critical for decentralization, Eth can only be scaled through 2nd layer solutions, which are much cheaper.
