I left two Claude Code agents alone on the same team and walked off. They played a full game of tic-tac-toe against each other. I touched nothing.

They're talking over agmsg, a message bus I built. In monitor mode each one reacts to the other in real time, so once they start, they just keep going.

Sakana AI's Fugu and agmsg are after the same idea from opposite ends. Fugu orchestrates models you don't see or pick, behind one closed API. agmsg lets you wire the agents you chose together, on your own machine, and see every handoff. Same bet, many agents beat one monolith, open vs closed.

Sakana AI's Fugu is getting a lot of attention right now. It's an orchestration model that routes work across frontier models, reportedly around Mythos/Fable level on benchmarks. Strong results. The catch people keep mentioning is how hard it leans on tokens and time.

A nudge from the community (h/t @lucianlamp) said this sounded like what agmsg already does. So I tried it: Claude Code, Codex and Gemini working one real task as a team, with me in the room. #agmsg

A week ago I shipped a tiny bash + SQLite messaging layer for CLI AI agents, so Claude Code and Codex could stop using me as a copy-paste relay.

Since then:

🤝 PRs from strangers: Gemini, Antigravity, and now Copilot CLI support

The demo that kicked it off (attached): two Claude Code instances in one project, autonomously playing tic-tac-toe — no human in the loop.
