Startups are a whole lot of luck but how hard you work, who you know, your taste, your ability to hire talented people, your perseverance, your area of genius, your urgency, your capability to accept painful moments reduce the luck to something more deterministic.
The answer is no.
And frankly, this behavior is why he should be recalled.
Gensler’s anti-crypto view isn’t the problem.
It’s that he lets personal biases supersede his job, and his fair application of regulation.
If the chair of the SEC felt that this asset was so unsafe, so criminal, and so risky, then he had grounds to *not* approve it and should have been able to defend that denial in a court of law.
Instead, courts found his arguments pedantic and inconsistent.
He approved not out of doing his job for the American people, but out of compulsion from the courts.
He has failed at his job, and has thrown a temper tantrum afterwards.
How any elected official, can in good faith, think that Gensler has the insight, moral character, tact or even emotional maturity to protect the American people is beyond me.
His remarks today are a stain on his office, his legacy, and the very institutions which he represents.
“[W]e have alienated a generation of product innovators within our space. Our unreasonable approach to these applications has signaled that regulatory prejudice against new products and services can lead us to sidestep the law and unreasonably delay product launches. The industry has logged hundreds of meetings, has filed submissions, withdrawals and amendments, and ultimately had to resort to a costly legal battle to get us to today.”

US Border Patrol just reported the highest number of recorded illegal immigrants in history at over 260,000 this month.
The full number, including unrecorded, may be over half a million per month, which is the population of Wyoming.
Things I know at 43 that I wish I knew at 23:
1. Stop using your workouts to burn fat at the gym. Use them to build muscle & get strong.
2. You'll never know how important good health is until you lose it.
3. Quit porn. The damage it does to your brain is too great of a cost.
4. Instead of using porn, drugs & alcohol to numb what you're feeling learn how to deal with your emotions.
5. Everyone is going through something that nobody knows. Be kind.
6. The food you eat affects your mood, energy & body. What you put in is what you get out.
7. You can delay if not reverse the aging process by giving a fuck about your body.
8. Your parents did the best they could with what they've been taught. Forgive them & move on.
9. Call your parents. Spend time with them. You don't have as much time with them as you think.
10. Maintain a long term outlook in every situation. Live like you don't have much time left but plan as if you'll live for centuries.
11. Play long term games with long term people.
12. Business is not family. It is conditional love. Family is unconditional love. Don't get them twisted.
13. There is no such thing as a free lunch. Your job is to find out what the cost is and if it's worth the reward.
14. The only attitude that works is "I'll figure this out".
15. Saying "yes" to one thing is saying "no" to another.
16. Put less focus on making money & more focus on helping as many people as possible.
17. People think wealth is about cars, clothes, and expensive watches. True wealth is about community, health & relationships.
18. The most successful people make friends with failure.
19. Time is your most valuable resource. Once you lose it you can never make it back.
20. The older you get the faster time goes. This speeds up when you have kids.
21. Don't take advice from people you don't want to become.
22. Accelerate your success by getting in rooms where people are ahead of you. Pay for this if you have to.
23. Never go cheap when investing in yourself.
24. Having children and being a good parent is one of the keys to living a fulfilling life.
25. There will come a time when it will be the last time you pick up your child. The last time you will share a moment with a friend. The last time you talk to your parents. Cherish these and never take any of these moments lightly.
I have more but I'll stop there. I'm not an old man yet but I've learned a few things in 4 decades.
Hope you got value out of this.

Wintermute criticized DWF, another market maker, on many occasions in Singapore2049. It stated to the media that there are a large number of people in this industry who "manipulate the market" instead of "providing liquidity to guide the healthy development of the market."
