Quantum computers will NEVER break cryptography… is something that some cryptography experts claim.

It’s not my opinion, but I’ll explain it because it’s important to lay it down. I heard this argument from Professor @GilKalai, one of the leading experts on the mathematics of NOISE.

The argument is this: to break RSA/SNARKs, quantum computers need near-perfect quiet, without noise. Noise is every small disturbance. But the quantum computer is a source of noise by itself. Worse, the noise may not be a random "oops" noise you can average away. It may be computation-correlated noise.

So, the more qubits you have, the more noise. Bad noise, that ruins the computation.

Again, I don’t subscribe to this theory but some smart serious people, like Gil Kalai, do believe it.
