I used to think Ripple and XRP were basically the same thing, but after going through this article by @loucoinbit, I realized they're only connected but completely different.

~XRP is the native digital asset used on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) to pay transaction fees and meet reserve requirements.

~XRPL is a decentralized, public blockchain maintained by independent validators, not by Ripple.

~Ripple is a private company that develops payment solutions using XRP and XRPL, but it does not own or control either.

XRP is not Ripple and Ripple is not XRPL. Ripple can have business or legal developments while the XRP Ledger keeps running because it's decentralized.

The more I align myself with SurferX, the more I gain more crypto knowledge. Now, I've realized how many crypto misconceptions come from mixing up simple concepts. Learning the differencs between them properly saves one from believing a lot of misleading headlines.
