Looks like Trump is negotiating everything in other to get drug prices cheaper for the American populace.

Under the current administration, we’ve seen expedited review timelines offered in exchange for policy concessions.

Last week, the FDA told Moderna it would not review its new flu shot.

Days later after Moderna lobbyists escalated concerns to the White House, the agency reversed course and agreed to review it.

The White House denies involvement, but we are seeing a pattern:

- The White House offered EMD Serono a speedy drug review and tariff relief in exchange for lowering fertility drug prices.

- Eli Lilly lowered prices on its blockbuster weight-loss drugs and received vouchers for faster drug reviews in return.

So the play seems to be, you lower the price of your drug we accelerate it's approval.

Pharmacists are concerned about this, especially when regulatory speed is used to score political points.

There's a thin line here, scientists and researchers need to be disconnected from the politics and economics of the day.
Whatever the case, the integrity of the process needs to be maintained.

Nigeria launches a National Electronic Pharmacy Policy!

In November 2024, I was invited by @Fmohnigeria to share insights from our experience building and providing digital access to medicines globally.

The first draft of the policy was launched yesterday, and its core objective is to:
- Set clear operational guidelines for operating an online pharmacy in Nigeria.
- Safeguard patient confidentiality and ensure the security of electronic transactions.
- Improve the reach of safe, quality medicines to underserved and remote areas.

The policy identified some risks, chiefly:
Traceability - Tracing the source and origin of medications dispensed online...
This is a major source of concern for regulators across the world and inspires our work on @pharmachainAI

This positions Pharmachain AI as a unique platform, having integrated blockchain tech, specifically @base, to authenticate medicines, displaying the source and origin at the pharmacy layer, thereby preventing the distribution of substandard or falsified products.
