Every animal was 100% legal in Polk County the day she moved in
One year later, the county passed a new order banning “all nonhuman primates”

Her facility never changed. Her animals never changed. The rules changed

Now: relocate or confiscation. 30 days

The detail that makes it a headline:

Polk County’s ban is stricter than the State of Texas

Texas classifies four primates as dangerous: baboons, chimps, orangutans, gorillas

Five county officials banned MORE than the entire Texas Legislature ever has

A 9-pound endangered lemur is now treated like a grizzly bear

The county’s own order contradicts itself:

One paragraph bans all primates
Another says small primates CAN be registered with USDA certification

She holds that certification

They’re seizing the animals anyway

What confiscation actually means:

There is no county facility for lemurs. None

Accredited sanctuaries are full, with waiting lists

Confiscated exotics with nowhere to go are routinely euthanized in this country

These are endangered animals she rescued because nobody else would take them

Why there’s no way out:
Texas counties have NO petition process. NO ballot initiative. NO recall

No number of signatures can touch this order

The only five people who can undo it are the five who wrote it
