If you look at your past and you were never the best in anything - trading competitive liquid markets is not going to be thing you are best at
Unless you have some kind of exceptional proof of being the best at certain skills - doesnt have to be academics but just across anything you wont be good competing in these short term established markets
The smartest thing you can do is recognise that you arent the top percentile and realise that you have to either play early games or play long term
The good thing about managing money is you dont need to be the smartest to do better or to end up richer lol
I have heard from and spoken to very high iq people that trade or invest for firms and their sheer IQ power is beyond us - the reason they dont do it themselves though is they also cant win against their peers by themselves but given what they know they cant make sense of early markets or markets long term as they think in certainties and edge not in terms of asymmetry and dont tolerate risk aswell (Obviously exceptions like any group)
Being smart doesnt make you money in itself investing - usually it prohibits you as you become too skeptical
Hence think clearly not smarter

Here’s how Barkmeta has been tied to shady projects over the years 🧵

Anyway, I don’t see why people are really panicking about this so much. It is clearly a self-correcting problem.
The same moral panic did not exist when ICP went from 300bn FDV to 3bn FDV, despite it being a relatively slightly more sophisticated capital extraction exercise.
But that was also a self-correcting problem.
Without the threat of loss of freedom, adjusting bad actor behaviour is IMO virtually impossible.
But investor/player behaviour is very easy to change. If you lose 10 times you stop playing.
Nobody buys “VC coins” anymore to the point where actually some of them (VERY VERY FEW) have become mispriced. They stopped buying them because they were sick of being farmed.
Several people on here, including me, wrote about the high FDV/low float farming phenomenon while it was happening. It didn’t stop the issuers taking the same strategy because shaming does nothing. It also didn’t stop the crowd buying low float coins.
The only thing that changed investor behaviour was collectively losing sufficient times that the crowd “learned” this should be avoided first-hand.
And then that in turn changed issuer behaviour — the crowd will not buy your shit anymore, so you can’t do that type of launch anymore with much success.
This will also happen for the current thing. Unfortunately we are still in close proximity from $Trump going from 0 to 100bn that people are still trying to emulate that and it may be a while. But this is not a long-lasting problem.
The main new development is that market participants are now moth-like. They actively rush into these scams, mostly knowing that they are scams, because the goal is to flip the scam for a 3x to somebody else.
There is no skepticism left for these buyers, they just want to hit a runner and leave crypto.
Their goal is to get rich in 2 weeks instead of in 2-4 years and this makes them very easy marks.
There were 100 ways to tell that Libra was not legit and yet people bid it in a straight line to $4bn, and non-agency managed KOLs bullposted it at the top in support of their own buy.
Everybody obviously knows that it is worth nothing, but they have seen something worth nothing go up a lot, and they want to hit one of those too.
It has become a game of chicken for obvious scams wherever attention is directed in a half-convincing way. So shaming won’t work because the buyers are begging for the opportunities, despite knowing they’re scams, because they think they might be able to win then next one.

the best crypto founders don’t see TGE as a payday, but the exact opposite - a debt, backed by their reputation
for them, they measure success in delivering their vision, doing right, building relentlessly, and proving—above all—to themselves that they were worthy of the trust
Success takes time. People give up too soon because they don’t see instant rewards.
Real success is inch by inch, day by day, with relentless conviction.
The truth is, there’s no finish line, just those who keep going.
99% quit. I won’t. I’ll keep pushing until it all falls into place. And when it does, we’ll laugh about how it happened 🫶
$MOTHER
If you’re in shock, disbelief or don’t like how this played out let me spell it out:
- the leader of the free world launched a coin currently worth $70 billion (in a span of a few days)
- it has shown the future of capital formation and markets in the digital age. One where money moves globally at the speed of light
- crypto is now accepted in the land of the free and the home of the brave
- now wonder who will launch coins next
- the world will come back to work next week and no longer be the same
- this is bigger than Paul Tudor Jones buying Bitcoin in 2020
- the impact of what has happened in the last few days is not priced in
I’ve seen wild things in this industry - this is the wildest by far. Still processing…
Trump coin launch and liquidity suck is going to be like how a tsunami plays out:
All the water gets pulled away from the beach for a short period of time (last night through this week, onchain dump), then an endlessly huge wall of water comes roaring back (net new buyers+redist)
