BIG CHANGE:
YOU CAN NOW OFFICIALLY
GENERATE ELECTRICITY FOR YOURSELF, USE WHAT YOU NEED, AND SELL EXCESS ELECTRICITY BACK TO THE GRID THROUGH YOUR DISCO
The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has commenced the Net Billing Regulations 2026, a new framework that allows eligible electricity users to generate power mainly through solar energy for their own use and export excess electricity back to the distribution network.
In simple terms, if your solar system generates more electricity than you consume, you can now send the extra power back to your DisCo and receive credits under a regulated billing arrangement.
This effectively creates what the sector calls a “Prosumer” ;meaning you are both a consumer and producer of electricity.
However, there are conditions.
This is not yet targeted at the average small residential solar setup.
To qualify:
-You must already be connected to a DisCo network.
-Your renewable energy system must have a minimum installed capacity of 50kWp and a maximum of 1.5MWp
-You must obtain approval from your DisCo.
-You must sign a Net Billing Agreement and register with NERC.
Approved users will receive bidirectional meters that track: ➡️Electricity imported from the grid
⬅️Electricity exported back to the grid
PRESS RELEASE
EDO POLICE ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER BODY OF ABDUCTED WOMAN, INTENSIFY MANHUNT FOR REMAINING GANG MEMBERS
It will be recalled that on 9th May, 2026, three women, namely Mrs. Favour Nosakhare (66), Mrs. Emmanuel Annabel Osasere (28), and Miss Rejoice Otikpere (26), were abducted by armed kidnappers who invaded their residence in Iyowa Community, Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State and whisked them away into a nearby forest.
Days after the abduction, the kidnappers contacted members of the victims’ family through a video call during which the women were seen being brutally flogged and tortured while their captors demanded ransom for their release. The disturbing development heightened concerns among residents and further galvanized the Edo State Police Command into intensive efforts towards rescue of the victims and apprehending the perpetrators.
Acting on intelligence and leveraging both tactical and technological resources, operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), in collaboration with the Drone Unit, commenced sustained rescue operations and aerial surveillance across identified forests and criminal hideouts within Ovia North-East and adjoining areas.
On 19th May, 2026, operatives busted the kidnapping gang along powerline within the forest. The suspects engaged the police in a fierce gun duel but were overwhelmed by the superior firepower of the operatives. As a result the hoodlums fled into the bush with gunshot injuries. A blood-soaked jacket and expended AK-47 ammunition were recovered from the scene, while surveillance and tracking operations were further intensified.
The painstaking investigation subsequently led to the arrest of one Musa Haruna, male, 23 years, with a gunshot injury, who is a member of the kidnapping syndicate notorious for kidnapping and armed robbery activities along the Benin-Lagos Road and Old Benin-Akure Road corridors.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to his involvement in the crime and led operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit into a thick forest at Ogwa Community, Ovia North-East Local Government Area, where two decomposing bodies were recovered on 2nd June, 2026. One of the bodies has been identified as that of Mrs. Favour Nosakhare by the family and one of the victims abducted during the incident of 9th May, 2026.
Investigation is ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate at large. Tactical and intelligence-driven operations have escalated, therefore, the Command is confident that the remaining suspects will be brought to justice soon.
The Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Monday Agbonika, fdc, commends the operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) and the Police Drone Unit for their resilience, professionalism, and dedication to duty, which culminated in this major breakthrough.
CP Monday Agbonika, fdc, further appeals to members of the public to continue to partner with the Police by providing timely, credible, and actionable information. He assures residents that the Command remains committed to ensuring the safety of all citizens and will leave no stone unturned until every member of the notorious criminal syndicate is arrested and made to face the full weight of the law.

Stuff like this go only move you if you’re lowkey stupid ngl.
It’s delusional to think the world works like that, Follow God cos you want to, work cos you want money. Conflating the 2 would make you see tweets like this and start doubting your faith. if prayer was equivalent to success, everyone will pray and everyone will be successful. Not a smart model to run
When Ekiti State was invaded by kidnappers then, as Governor, Fayose did not wait for President Buhari.
Rather, he did what he should do as a Governor. He mobilised local hunters. He mobilised security men, including soldiers.
Most importantly, Fayose made laws to BAN OPEN GRAZING in Ekiti, such that Fulani herders were not allowed to enter the State in the night and cattle rearers in Ekiti were identified.
I remember when a pregnant woman was killed in Orin Ekiti Farm Settlement, Fayose summoned the stakeholders, including Fulani Leaders to the government house. Son of one of the Fulani leaders, Alhaji Abache was accused of being among those who killed the woman.
Fayose mandated Alhaji Abache to produce his son within one week or leave Ekiti. Within three days, Abache brought the son.
Like I have maintained, we can keep playing politics of emotions and sentiments with this issue of insecurity, especially in the South-West, when we are ready, we will hold our Governors accountable.
