Soooo…. In the 2.5yrs since my last post, bitcoin is up 30k -> 82.5k, and gold is up 2k -> 5k
I’m not entirely sure why everyone feels the need to only hold one and dunk on the other. Both do what is needed, but personally think bitcoin will be the better asset in the long run
Unbelievable though this may seem to the people who believe the US is the only country that matters, bitcoin is fine without the SEC, Coinbase or Binance (US)
@acrossthespread @kamikaz_ETH I find it super interesting that the yen is weakening lock step with this foreign buying flow tho.
It wouldn’t surprise me if the ultimate Buffet play is long Nikkei / long Dollaryen
@John_J_Ahearn@SmM03423910 This seems spot on. And the stressed institutions don’t own stocks which would be the ‘riskier’ stuff to sell, so we are talking banks. Add in the gold move, central banks?
@EaziestT@TaviCosta Sure I understand this is the crux of the argument, but I would continue to argue this is a suboptimal outcome and will end with a broad rise in prices, simply because everyone being self sufficient is not efficient.
@kgelner@TaviCosta So what about the giant header saying ‘US Industrial Production’ and the arrow in the top right saying ‘US manufacturing revitalization era’ did I misread exactly?
@TaviCosta Er… Kind of I guess? The conclusion you arrive at is far from a foregone conclusion imo, but I guess it’s different if there is no other choice. All point towards higher cost of everything.
@TaviCosta I get you on the outside demand, and I agree commodities are likely to do well in a deglobalization. My question and original comment alluded to the chart that seemed to indicate some kind of miracle recovery in US ind prod. Why do you think the US will be revitalized?
@TaviCosta No I read the whole tweet. If anything such a strong period of exponential growth is unsustainable in the long-term. So while I am not saying a resumption of the upward trend is not possible, not sure why you seem to think it’s so likely.
@bradstradamus@TaviCosta further stagnation is an untenable outcome for the fiat ponzi. the combination of lower tax receipts and higher refunding costs alone will do the trick. indicates higher fiat prices for finite resources 🤝
@bradstradamus@TaviCosta Agreed. I mean I think fiat debasement alone argues for commodities to increase in price. Just not sure why decades of stagnation won’t lead to further decades of stagnation or worse.
