The pilot, reportedly emotional, responded,

“Mr. President... thank you for saying that. No one has ever...”

Trump then replied,

“You’re a father before you’re a pilot. Just as I’m a President before I’m a grandfather. Our families will be waiting for us, but today America’s children are counting on all of us.”

This is one of the clearest verses on the topic—our words can bring life, encouragement, healing, and blessing, or they can bring death, destruction, division, and harm. We reap what we speak.

“How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire! And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the course of life, and set on fire by hell.”

James paints a vivid picture: even small words can ignite massive change—for good or evil.

3. Ephesians 4:29 (ESV)
“Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.”

God calls us to use our words intentionally—to edify, encourage, and extend grace rather than tear down.

“There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.”

Words can wound deeply like a sword, or they can bring healing and restoration.

Jesus Himself warns that our words matter eternally. Even careless ones are accounted for.

Ava Spillers was getting ready to start her freshman year at UGA this fall. Now the 19-year-old FPD grad and her family are waiting for answers from MD Anderson Cancer Center.
According to a CaringBridge page created by her aunt, Ava unexpectedly had a seizure recently. Testing showed a lesion on her brain, and later imaging found a mass in her left lung.
Ava underwent a lung biopsy in Macon and has been referred to specialists at MD Anderson in Houston. Her family said Thursday night that the biopsy had been sent to the appropriate team and they were waiting to learn when Ava would be evaluated.
Ava, who plans to study nursing at UGA, is described by her aunt as a gifted athlete, an outstanding student and a young woman with a deep love for Jesus, her family and her friends.
The family is asking for your prayers.
