Posting events, pictures & clipping from this day(ish) 100 years ago at Michigan State University (not affiliated with the university)...VERY amateur historian
From MAC 11/6/1922...Lots of movements around campus...including MAC getting a full restaurant at the music center until the new Union Building is completed.
From MAC Record 10/9/1922...Students are going to protect Split (aka Half-way) Rock! Part of which will be moved 2 years from now and place just outside the Union Building. https://t.co/nuUBlwgO6B
For MAC Record 10/9/1922...baseball field floods might be a thing of the past due to the proposed channel that would run south from present day Sparty status to Kellogg Center (White Elephant was near Harrison and Michigan)
From MAC Record 9/8/1922...Ground broken for the new MAC Library! (today the MSU Museum)...this will replace the current Library at (now known as) Linton Hall
From MAC Record 9/8/1922...It's the start of a new school year and President Friday greet a large crowd regarding his vision of the future in the Forest of Arden (wooded area in front of the women's building?)
#OTD 100 years ago WKAR radio was officially licensed. It was the first educational radio station in the state. Happy anniversary @WKAR! [Image: WKAR radio tower next to the MAC Smokestack, circa 1930s]. #MSUHistory#TBT
@kevinforsyth Yup...that's the one...double checked online, that light fixture in the stairwell looks to be the same as from the mid-90s (and likely earlier than that)
From MAC Record 5/12/1922...fun little piece by Pete Bancroft and Max Gardner about their road trip back to MAC (think prequel to Dude, Where's my car?). Favorite line: "On account of the great distance to travel (3 miles) and the road (Michigan) they decided to start at 3am."
