Hi @ErnieElsWinery
Just piecing together a timeline of the investments made by Baron Hans:
October 2015- purchase Ernie Els Wines
May 2017- purchase Stellenzicht & renovation starts
May 2018- renovation of EEW begins (still in progress)
May 2020- purchase Alto
All correct?
Still just the “rich”? @LuthoZa ?? ... remembering that wine is only being EXPORTED at this stage. Knowing lutho ain’t helping. @Sir_Sompane@emilejoubert
BREAKING: Gauteng Liquor Forum - representing 20000 tavern and Shebeen owners - have threatened to go to the Constitutional Court over government’s total ban on alcohol sales.
They have told President Ramaphosa that he has until Tuesday to relax the ban, or face court action:
@Sir_Sompane@LuthoZa@emilejoubert Thus essentially taking steps to save a few hundred thousand jobs. But sure, each to their own. Even if you’re uniformed... knowing f’all (um, Lutho... my bad.) 2/2
@Sir_Sompane@LuthoZa@emilejoubert Hardly worth engaging with stupidity, Mr Sompane. Ms/Mr Lutho has a most apt name:
Lo muntu akazi lutho. If s/he figured to use a tool of the “rich” (Google), it could be established that competent people (opposite of lutho) lobbied successfully for exports to be allowed. 1/2
A global pandemic rapidly spreading across our nation: our beloved country is under-resourced to manage its severity on human life.
This is in poor taste from your Communications Manager @WOSA_ZA
Nice one, Luke... agreed, your wines are superb!
FFS Greg, it was 33C+ in Stellies yesterday... but still had to wear your rugger jersey? Brexit frozen your bones that badly?!
Mammoth 5 hour tasting yesterday at @GlenellyEstate with winemaker Luke O’Cuinneagain. Undoubtedly the highlight was the mini vertical of the #LadyMay flagship red blend including an exclusive sneak peak of their as yet unreleased monumental 2015! Wine Safari Review coming soon!
@MovesLikeDragan Just ridiculous! Oh, and don’t forget the exorbitant mark-up’s on booze... these come after the “marketing” fees that are asked of suppliers for “exposure” on the drinks list.
@emilejoubert Good form... was about to knock you - for three patrons just working through a half-bottle. Great juice and incredibly well priced at around R1,200 for a 750 + bottle maturation 👊🏻
@AngelaLloyd1@Blackwaterwine Delicious wine. Question: shouldn’t @wineonaplatter leftovers rather be donated to charities/organisations? Cape Wine Academy? Sommelier’s Association? Hospitality training? Rather than the greed of judges. @michaelfridjhon does a super job collecting WineX leftovers for Rotary.
@bosmanwinemaker Looks like a Red Stumpnose- on the SASSI red list as threatened and endangered species. The other is tough to make out. Initial thought was a species of Hammerhead Shark- most of which are also in decline and threatened. Struisbaai not well policed and no care for sustainability
