**N.B. MOSTLY ON BLUESKY THESE DAYS** Battery electrochemist with a keen eye on the latest tech + a small fleet of classic EVs. Creator of Plug Life Television.
@holyZarquon_@graeme_cobb That video was made ages ago when EVs had a much shorter range (e.g. 24 kWh LEAF) and were used daily. These days, I charge an NMC battery to 70 - 80% SOC for day-to-day use, and 100% when I have longer journeys (or once every couple of months to balance the cells).
@Petew027 That's because the most expensive form of electricity generation sets the wholesale price for all of Britain: gas. If regional pricing was introduced, Scotland would have the cheapest electricity in Europe because of its abundance of renewables. https://t.co/2qDL8Qu2sW
@Petew027 Fossil fuel peaking plants are being displaced in Scotland - and elsewhere - by grid scale energy storage, which also minimises curtailment of renewables. Grid interconnects across Europe help the continent to maximise the use of renewables & eventually eliminate fossil fuel use.
I'll be on stage at the GIGA Theatre at @Everyth1ngElec ExCeL on 16th April, discussing battery and energy storage tech that goes beyond lithium-ion. Get your tickets here: https://t.co/K1U8eYyium
See you there!
@zexpe Guttingly they've just gone into administration. Yet another excellent UK green tech company that suffered from a lack of investment while scaling up. If Altelium had been based in the US or China, it would be thriving right now. UK Gov needs to ensure ample green investment.
FAO UK owners of Teslas with expired warranties:
Altelium is doing extended warranties for Teslas up to 12yrs/200k miles, covering not just the battery, but the full drivetrain.

In this article, Steve Rigby suggests Net Zero and the shift to EVs could see the UK lose its car industry
I'm afraid a report by the CBI found the complete opposite - going slow in making the move to building EVs represents the biggest threat to

Wow! No wonder some generators oppose market reform-they don’t understand the modern electricity system.
Folk may not get up at night to use the kettle but they’d love free EV driving & switch to cheap electric heating. Batteries will soak up the excess.
Better than wasted wind
Scottish drivers: @EnergySvgTrust wants to know your thoughts on EV charge point booking systems. Would they make driving an EV more convenient for you, or encourage you to make the switch if you haven't yet? Survey (with M&S voucher prize draw!) below: https://t.co/QONR1djXFW
Charge Saint's collaboration with @char_gy is now live! But what is Charge Saint, what does it do, how does it work and how did it come to be? The latest episode of Electric Evolution reveals all: thanks @FullCircleCI_ for having me back on the show!

First of all, it would be the 51st through 63rd states. Secondly, You would be adding 40 million comparatively leftist voters, 52 leftist representatives, and 26 leftist senators—and nobody like Trump would ever get elected again. Lastly, you can fuck right off.
Smart climate policy means not only protecting future generations from the biggest existential threat we face, but fighting to make working people better off today, growing our economy and confronting the economic injustices we face.

@ciclobyron@benpattinson1 @newt7215 Correct. Also, the EU Battery Regulation mandates an increasing percentage of materials recovered from recycled batteries, and used in new batteries, over the coming years. This will not only encourage increasingly efficient recycling techniques, but establish a circular economy.
This is a nice move from Weev, providing extended discounted charging hours to help the thousands of homes across Ireland that are still without power after Storm Éowyn.
For some households, this may be the only way to get power to keep their fridge and heating running (via V2L)
Lots of our customers are still without power at home and need access to our public chargers while ESB and NIE continue to repair the network.
This week we are extending our Night Rate from 6pm - 8am giving an extra 5 hours of discounted charging.
Is it possible to charge a Nissan LEAF which only has a CHAdeMO socket, on a rapid charger that only has CCS plugs? The latest episode of Plug Life Television finds out the answer. This could open up cross-country travel again for LEAFs and e-NV200s.

It's hilarious when trolls, russians and people with anonymous accounts accuse clean energy people of being grifters.
They should see the oil and gas grift. It cost you £100bn in the crisis and £17m in 3 hours last week.
There've been fossil fuel crises since I was a kid.
Offft! Translated to Great British Imperial units, the @aptera_motors manages 10 miles/kWh.
A typical EV does 3.5 miles/kWh. The Hyundai IONIQ, renowned for its efficiency, manages 5 (although it is a bigger car).
Charged on off-peak electricity, this EV costs >1p/mile to run.
@nbinsider63 From $28,000. That's slightly cheaper than the entry level 40 kWh Nissan LEAF, which only has about 60% of the range per charge of the entry level Aptera.
As far as two-seaters go, the Mazda MX-5 starts at $30,515. Neither the LEAF nor MX-5 stand out for fuel efficiency.
