@drmcopeman@Blokeonabike2 But that’s nonsense, it doesn’t account for the energy required for the fossil fuel system, refining alone uses huge amounts of power, that’s before the transport, and pumping costs etc. Once that’s removed energy requirements gradually lower as the EV uptake progresses.
@DeborahMeaden We have 300 days of sunshine a year here in Portugal, it’s a no brainer, but we are almost the only people we know with solar and an EV. The “anti” renewables crowd seem to love supporting the rich oil folk…
@ListerLawrence You aren’t conflicted just ignoring facts. If all the 1% countries took the same approach that’s a third of the world not bothering to do anything. Taking per capita figures into account the U.K. has a much higher historical CO2 debt than China. Perhaps lead by example?
@EVPuzzle Probably like here, hardly any locally, but in Lisbon there are significant numbers these days. We also notice the same driving across Europe, hot spots where there are loads. Can go hours driving through Spain and hardly see any…
@renewablesmiffy Yep, same here, 37c here yesterday, a comfortable 23c indoors, two units sipping a mere 400w easily covered by our PV maintaining the temperature. Pretty much the same deal in winter too…
@Teslarati There is a sweet spot for range, somewhere around 450km, but even when it’s cold and motorway speed, our model 3 provides that 90% of the time. The way we plan our European trips, if the car charged any quicker it would disrupt our schedule, 20-25 minutes for lunchtime, perfect!
@memes_eV@eV_Newt Being that I’m from Cornwall, I can attest that during holiday season some of the visitors tend to act like they own the place. The locals have to put up with a huge increase in numbers of cars and traffic. Equally I bet the response from the Tesla driver was due to embarrassment
@EvEvangelist@Tesla I figured you would get the usual kind of negative responses, but I wholeheartedly concur, ended up driving a CashKi recently, I truly hated every moment. The only thing I liked was the front facing camera. I also paid €117 for the privilege of using petrol, for a mere 940km.
