While I worked for Epic Games a few VERY special projects fell my way. This was one of them...

The earpiece shared by Midas, Brutus, Peely, Lynx, Meowscles, and others has symbolism beyond SHADOW or GHOST. I was approached by Donald Mustard several years ago to design this device. It had to be sleek and simple, much like the designs of Jony Ive and Dieter Rams.

I worked closely with my art director to mock up some concepts. I struggled through a few initial passes, trying to bring Donald's vision to life in Fortnite.

Eventually, we landed on the designs below. Donald gave it the green light, and it made its way into the game!

The truth of this seemingly simple little ear piece went beyond Fortnite. It was a gateway into mysterious things I am not able to discuss. But I won't stop you from theorizing. As Donald once said to me, "The best story is the story you tell yourself." 📐
