I absolutely loved @mastersmovie!!! So much fun!! Doesn’t take itself seriously! Just enough action, reverence to the source without negating the fun people have had with it today! Leto as Skeletor chews the scenery beautifully!!!
A truly great time! Score and soundtrack is killer as well!
Also, if you want to see Adora on the big screen, please do watch Masters of the Universe, because we need it to be successful to get a sequel/spin-off. And stay till the very end for the post-credits scenes. Trust me.
I hated on #MasterOfTheUniverse from the jump, I didn't expect that I would actually enjoy it. Shit, I kinda loved this goofy ass movie. How well it translates everything that is HE-MAN, both the Meme and the Myth, worked better than it had any right to.
#MastersOfTheUniverse is surprisingly self-aware and packed full of retro goodness. Travis Knight once again injects a ton of color and style into a world that visually thrives because of it. The score is fantastic, and Leto’s Skeletor is a top-tier villain. It’s actually unbelievable how much fun this character is.
Where the film falls short is in its inability to maintain momentum… it constantly has to insert a joke. The humor is just so inconsistent, often thriving but occasionally missing the mark. While it has no business being over two hours, our time on Eternia will make the experience worthy for hardcore fans and casual viewers. Also, Nicholas Galitzine as Adam has this Clark Kent quality to him that works well.
For those wondering, #MastersOfTheUniverse is a love letter to everything great about growing up in the 80s as a kid. It is literally the movie that is born of the stories told out of your toy box coming to live and playing out the best adventure you could imagine. Perfect.
Nicholas Galitzine brings an earnest He-Man to life that finds its footing similarly to the likes of casting David Corenswet as Superman. Completely endearing, and powerful.
If this movie, which fairly respected the source does fail, I at least hope that doesn’t kill any other chance for him as a blockbuster lead elsewhere.
