I woke up today to the news that The Rowling Library’s YouTube channel has been taken down by YouTube. According to the information provided by the platform, the removal followed claims submitted by The Blair Partnership, the literary and entertainment agency that represents J.K. Rowling.

Some of these claims related to videos that had been uploaded to the channel more than four years ago.

The Rowling Library’s YouTube channel was probably the largest multimedia archive of J.K. Rowling material online, including appearances, interviews, and other rare footage that is not available elsewhere. Its removal also means the disappearance of a significant amount of material that I had worked to preserve and make accessible over the years.

The channel was entirely non-commercial. It was not monetized through advertising, tips, donations, or any other source of revenue.

Thank you to everyone who has spent minutes or hours watching the material over the years, leaving kind comments, and appreciating the archival and restoration work I carried out on many of these videos.
